Freedom of speech, as outlined in the Constitution, only applies to speaking out against the government. It is limited in scope. Maybe in this climate of fully politicized corporatiions, we will see a willingness of the courts to the expand this important right to employers like other 1st ammendment protections have been. What would be even better is if Congress did something about it and while they are at it, they should fix the Citizens United ruling.

We gave them alot of our technology after the war. This allowed them to rebuild faster and thats why they were able to became a tech superpower by the 1980s. Sony, Mitsubishi, and other companies would not have been founded without our tech.

Your comment made me wonder, maybe that is part of the plan. The Indians have their own government structure within our nation. The 1619 project is pushing that the slaves were here before the nation began just like the Native Americans. The next logical step is to say their descendants should have their own version of a tribal government. They call for defunding the police knowing that won't happen. So then they propose the real solution, which is that they need their own power structure so their voices can be heard. The response will be it is no problem because such a system already exists. Nonstop coverage of how the tribal govenment system has given Indians a voice Blacks do not have. If they can pull it off, they can use that structure to set up a sister system inside the U.S. in order to eventually balkanize the country.

Mike Braun was wrecked on Tucker Carlson last night. The most interesting part was Braun exposed what the RINOs are saying behind closed doors. Normally, politicians aren't so unskilled.

Our tax dollars paid for this hoax investigation. The fact that they are not arresting anyone for the fake hate crime is beyond infuriating. These hoaxes are not going to stop because there are no serious consequences.

Nascar's apology to its fans after calling them racist is not even close to enough. It deserves empty stands until they give a true apology.

You had me until Ingraham. In my opinion, she is too inconsistent in her views. Her neocon roots show themselves at inopportune times for MAGA.

I think one issue is that she wants to be seen as reasonable. In normal times that would be a fine and noble attribute. But in the times we actually live in, reasonable people are directly contributing to our ceding ground in the culture war.

Reading between the lines, I get the sense this plan was actually about human cloning and bioengineered children. Think Orphan Black.

This is how it used to be. Decentralization of government makes lobbying much more difficult to do. They have to divide their interests and it is more costly if they don't. It would be the most effective thing we can do right now to weaken the lobbying industry.

I am reading the excellent book Goliath by Matt Stoller and he says that where we are at today, corporations run the government, not the other way around.

The book is a history of monopoly/duopoly power of corporations and how that directly led to what we are seeing today, which is authoritariansm on the left and populism on the right.

Yes, of course, I have been in midtown after 10 pm. It is the cultural center of Atlanta. I was not talking about living in midtown, but being a tourist which means they will likely stay close to Peachtree. There are good restaurants, especially around Crescent and then around Holman and Finch. If they have a car the options for great restaurants expand in several directions. There is the Cafe Intermezzo for late night dessert. There are the museums, botanical garden, Fox Theatre, Woodruff Theatre, and more. There are good bars in midtown, but they are typically upscale and tucked away. Midtown has alot to offer for tourists.

It must have been some time since you have been here because Murder Kroger is gone. They built a new one on the beltline. Murder Kroger is just an empty building.

You are correct that first set of BLM protests was scary, because they kept wanting to take to the Interstate. I work near the Wendys that was burned down and I used to have to drive home at night through those BLM protests that took over the onramps. But that seems like forever ago. Kaseem Reed was a better mayor, than KLB, and I am no fan of his. I remember one night he went down and talked to the protestors on the street and told them to look at the actual statistics. Atlanta has not had any unarmed shootings (it still hasn't). Atlanta P.D. does not have the issues they were protesting about. He deescalated the situation unlike KLB, who likes to inflame (she called all the black residents and said to vote for her "to keep Atlanta black"). After he did that the protests pretty much died down here. He earned respect from me for that effective move. It showed actual leadership, which we had not seen from him before. KLB's awful leadership has allowed the homeless to set up permanemt camps under the overpass at Jesse Hill, Edgewood exit. It feels like she is going to ruin this beautiful and wonderful city. But it seems part of the master plan all over the U.S. It is probably best, during these uncertain times, that you were able to find work elsewhere.

You stayed downtown? That is why. Come back, but stay in Midtown or Buckhead. Take Marta downtown. You will have a different experience. Downtown is mainly only day time for attractions plus business. It is dead after 6pm unless there is a game or concert. It has very few good restaurants. Not many hotels. Downtown has no nightlife. It is dirty and has too many homeless now. Other parts of the city are gorgeous.

Monticello is a fascinating place to visit. Jefferson was such a studious and thoughtful man. The technology of Monticello and his contributions to education is such an important part of history.

I get your point, but sacrificing the foundational principals of our country for B roll footage is the dumbest thing I have ever heard. This twisting of narrative to justify what we have seen is as illogical as the Democrats.

Contextually, he was on a Zoom with two black actors (an actual one and an activist). No one held his feet to the fire that what he said was possibly racist. It seemed that, given the context, he was talking about the 13-14% black population.

They also said nothing when he said, "I know about the cochroaches" right after talking about little black children. Contextually, this was an abhorrent statement.

I do not understand why our "media" refuses to just hammer these points day in and day out. If Trump said this, it would be on CNN every day for weeks with their pundits yelling he was clearly talking about blacks. Part of our problem, is our media spends too much time reporting and gushing over whatever CNN and MSDNC is talking about rather than leading the conversation.
