I've been on Euro sleepers and they're actually worse if you can imagine.
Trains themselves are newer but oh my God are they uncomfortable. Plus bunk beds with strangers!
Nice gimmick to sleep and wake up at your destination (more convenient than air) but my god I will never do that again. Got 0 sleep...
Amtrak I got 6-7 hours of sleep. So that's my baseline.
Amtrak is like a cruise for long distance. Place to sleep, 3 meals a day, beautiful views...
It's just horrid as a mass transit vehicle outside the NE Corridor.
Amtrak is just a sad state of affairs...
They brought in the Delta CEO to become more like the airlines and killed its soul in trying to gain profitability.
It's just a hard model. If Amtrak owned all the rail then they could have control to make it a positive service for customers...but they have to play second fiddle to freight at much expense. No way you can have a sustainable business model for travelers like that.
We need true rail. Rail is awesome and totally the future. So are cars. Both can play nice. Most travel is around 200-300 miles between cities so high speed rail would be very disruptive against regional airlines. I really like Florida's model and borrow that across the country.
But we need brand new infrastructure to support it.
Trump might not even run for optics reasons. He didn't really have much of a campaign policy agenda.
Perhaps he never intended on actually having a 2nd term...? Just to win the election so fraud can be exposed and get us to this point....
I tried and got lost using Apple Maps. Have a friend who is insistent on using it for privacy reasons and he always gets the wrong address lol
True. Apple really hard tried to decouple themselves back then with Apple Maps and a rumored search engine. It's too much tho for even a company like Apple to compete with. Even after like a decade Apple Maps is inferior in every aspect.
You guys have absolutely no idea what's in the Talmud.
I do. Read it for countless years. I challenge you to do so (it's quite boring tbh).
Stop with this nonsense. You make everyone on this site look bad...
A lot of companies are. I'd wager the majority are for at least some aspects of their business.
AWS is an amazing tool and there's nothing like it from an ease of programming and scalability perspective while still being secure and fast.
Losing everything for his kids. That's a line I don't think he is willing to cross. I can't blame him. If I had kids I would do everything to protect them as well.
They'll sacrifice Trump but with the implicit bargaining that his kids are left out of it.
That's the scary part...
I would actually be less freaked out if he was calmly talking about stirring the pot for political advantage points.
The fact they believe this nonsense is far scarier and has horrific implications in the long run.
Trump is Hitler...
....if I had a Shekel for every time any of these assholes said the same shit I would be rich.
Makes my blood boil every time anyone makes such a ludicrous equivalence. A good chunk of my family was wiped out by the Nazis. Fuck these people.
True but then there will always be this barrier between the opportunities your kids can achieve vs others and small/midsize companies can only have so much power...
My point wasn't that college in of itself is important to hold a job (which it is but changing as well with coding academies and other at home solutons) but rather that the powerful positions of power within large organizations are accessible only with a degree of pedigree through attending a top 20 undergrad and obtaining a top job right out of school.
The top roles even in large companies are given to those who started in roles that had influence to start with. As much as Amazon claims anyone can move up to corporate, there's an obvious glass ceiling from a timing and age perspective unless you had that background. Same with Google, Walmart, etc.
Starting a company is hard and is only getting harder. Funding is mostly coming from silicon valley. Now that AWS is compromised and will cut off anyone who is ideologically opposed it's even more difficult to start any internet company without high levels of engineering expertise to create your own servers and backend.
It's a nice idea but being an entrepreneur is extremely hard even during the best of times...and experience is valuable. I had a small business when I was in high school. When I look back I realize that I had no idea what I was doing with a lot of it. I learned a great deal working in corporate to be savvy if I did choose to open my own venture
It's not just big tech that does this...almost every F500 prioritizes their decision maker management decisions to either lifers or those with 'pedigree' backgrounds. I've seen it with my own eyes countless of times. Same for government positions in the alphabet agencies.
If your children can start businesses out of the gate that can be true disruptors then great...but otherwise power is coming from consolidation and you HAVE to play by their rules to gain power.
Bad advice imo. Unfortunately we don't live in a true meritocracy. The levers of power are becoming more and more constraint to just a few corporations and entities of power. These institutions only recruit talent at 'top' universities based on the assumption that the best candidates are at these colleges. Only certain roles have influence in these organizations and for many companies this is intentional. The level of power you gain from starting your career at a consulting firm vs a random small business can easily impact the rest of your career. Business schools look for that when taking on MBAs at top programs. Then those companies look for the same.
It's a perpetual cycle that ends up being self fulfilling that the wealthy have the expense and resources to send their children to expensive colleges that would require lots of tutoring and/or family connections to obtain entrance, enriching their class and keeping the working and middle class in it's place. . Military service is another option (one that I personally should have considered but was hyper against the Iraq War at the time from a moral perspective).
The way to gain further influence inside these institutions of power is to encourage the youth to enroll and hyper plan their careers, not to avoid them due to the nature of the education itself.
Think the problem is the search function is broken, at least it is for me.
So the majority of the legislature has voted or something?
Sorry for my ignorance. Not sure how this works.
Wow...but I'm confused. How can they do that? Doesn't that require decertification of the state first?
Also Is that by the Trump campaign or by someone else without standing like Powell?
Yeah all that seems to me is just a lot of grunt work from analyst types.
Know WI has a path and AZ has the audit, but what about MI? Haven't heard anything about that state and it seemed like no traction. Sources?
2 theories:
-
those special adult machines we found out about early on (I forgot the name...was some shady looking startup). Perhaps they will use those audit machines whenever UG is involved.
-
convenience and proximity to the university
Agree. They've pulled the same card what feels like a dozen times. It's ludicrous.
All Georgians on here should do everything possible to protest and get on to watch the process. Screw the rules too and have spy cameras and photographic evidence.
The governor and SoS is corrupt as all hell so don't trust this for an inch without verifying first
That's ridiculous because there is no higher evolved human.
Literally. Humans have the least genetic differences than any other animal on this planet.
Nature vs nurture....I always side with nurture when it comes to any 'inherited intelligence'. Because unless you're a super genius or a retard most humans aren't really that different. Your life experiences, education, etc....that makes the bulk of it.
Otherwise STEM wouldn't be dominated by China and India due to their vastly superior educational system and far more regimented culture.
Been advocating for this awhile now. Need to appeal to everyone with accessible stickies so those uninitiated can quickly get up to speed.
Most Democrats want the same things most Trump supporters do: end corruption, protect our industries.
Even if they don't there's a number who don't like Biden and hate cheaters...
