i take it you're not a business owner in a blue state, so i understand why it's confusing.
obviously, though, i don't think it's right & keep hoping a federal case will come in & provide some national precedence.

i said businesses refuse to serve you here because if they are caught serving people without a mask they get big fines from the state which was upheld by our state's supreme court.
guessing you are from a state without highly enforced mandates & that's why you are unclear how it works. which is great for you, i'm jealous.
there was a brief point in time where the official narrative was that the wuflu was spread through droplets and not aerosols (tiny droplets).
this is pretty much when the mask thing really took off.
it didn't seem to matter that a few weeks later it was officially confirmed that it was, indeed, spread through aerosols.
it was so weird because a) of course it was, literally everybody knew this the entire time, but b) how about you roll back this mask thing because it doesn't make sense anymore?
businesses here refuse to serve you here w/o a mask for the most part, but we have stopped putting them on our kids & it's going well.
it's a small step, but an important one for the people with masks on their kids to see.
