If so, it's a silver lining, because feminism has been ruining lives for years. (Can we connect it with China somehow?)

I think Fauci and Birx represent two types of "bedside manner," thus besides their undeniable experience they can reassure different people. Some go for the motherly comfort (Birx) and some for the big think ( Fauci).

He doesn't need to, but having them there thwarts media accusations that he's inept, he's not an expert, he's making it all up. Instead he is trotting out not only his own people but lifelong swamp dwellers who are supporting him too, and he has downplayed himself by not using the Presidential seal.

Thanks to all the Earth First city planners who have promoted urban density, mass transit, and communal facilities all over. They've been busy turning central Phoenix into the new hip urbanscape and ruining everything that was charming.

Great points. Before you got to the gems I was wondering where traditional crafts of calligraphy and pottery came from, because I would have said embroidery, which the women used to be noted for, and gem or jewelry production as Afghanistan was noted for lapis and silver work. (but Afghanistan is full of minerals I'm sure it's neighbors would like). So "women crafters" is a Hillary-esque kind of cover, for sure.

That seems so unconstitutional and bound to provoke pushback it's hard to believe he'd say that--unless there are specific someones who might otherwise skate from heinous crimes.

The right question. Surely this isn't flu related. Or how would it be? States are already doing this and hope is on the horizon, so it doesn't seem like necessary. Something else going on?

Noticed. Ending a crisis way ahead of schedule and rearranging things like a magician while doing it.

Maybe that was the last straw-- she was the very picture of "Curses! Foiled again!"

I think a lot of people died in China, for whatever reason, they had a perfect storm and ten times the deaths they are reporting. Trump knew that, knew that maybe we would fare better but wasn't going to take a chance on waiting to find out, knew how the media would make it the next Black Plague--now with those assumptions in mind, look what he's done. Moved mountains in two months on the health front, and in many ways besides.

They've worn out that trick. Nobody "sees" it as they did.

I don't believe anything they say, but it is true that eventually an epidemic runs out of new hosts and then it all crashes. This is why social distancing helps, and a few people getting out of the "distanced" group will cause new outbreaks in a previously clean population so the duration of the epidemic is longer. It could be that so many people in China were infected early on that most of the population got sick at once, with a huge spike in deaths, and that means they would also mostly get well at once.

Seems excessive. On the other hand, we could make great wall progress with both borders closed. If it is true that we produce most of what we consume we also have time to retool a lot of production and reduce shortages.

Oh, I agree. They got to me and I haven't been picked on as much as you. But it's a downside of the freedom of anonymity.

Definitely I would be in favor of banning people who do harassing things like that, or, take my DILs advice and not argue with internet trolls--not much I agree with her on.

First, ad hominems don't add to any discussion. Downvote them or ignore them and they go away. Second, see my point above. How do you know someone is a commie, or a retard, or just misinformed or having a bad morning or whatever?

No, bad idea. Because there is no way to screen proactively for all the shills who will come and start applying these labels to old time users. Like me, calling out someone on a wild hypothesis: periodically posters want to rant on something, they attract like minded ranters, and anyone who dares to demur is a shillfag anti whatever idiot.

A law that goes back to the Korean war, which gives the President power to direct production of industries in certain emergencies. Trump now controls the economy.
