It isn't that simple. True, if cops were killing random people and blacks are 1/6 of the population, then cops would have to kill 5 white people for every black to be equal opportunity killers. However, cops are killing people who are committing crimes. As more blacks are committing the kinds of crimes that result in violent response, and the cops are shooting at subsets of both black and white populations, it would turn out that more white people porportionally are being shot.
