I’m sorry; someone coming into the country illegally isn’t innocent. You don’t even need a trial. They’re standing in America, and they’re not citizens. That has nothing to do with picking innocent people up off the street, or late at night in their homes.
You’re the one working on emotion, now. “Those ten thousand criminals could ruin tens of thousands of lives”. You’re right, bad things happen. But our founders knew the threat of state violence was worse than the threat of criminal violence. Use the 2nd Amendment as an example. One person could ruin the lives of hundreds. Thousands. It doesn’t mean we ban guns or arrest people for owning them.
That is America. Freedom comes with risk and sacrifice.
I am absolutely emotional about it. I am sick to death of this system destroying innocent lives. Worse are the ones who plead guilty even though they are innocent; this is where I work. The system puts so much fear and pressure into innocent people, and it should not be that way. That is -not- how we are supposed to do things, and police are absolutely complicit in it.
Better that a thousand criminals go free than one single innocent life be ruined. And they absolutely do get ruined; every single day. You’re just not exposed to it.
