This is not true, despite the fact that so many people believe it and repeat without every questioning it. The US is not a corporation. Washington DC is incorporated just like most other cities and every state. You're conflating the incorporation of Washington with the US turning into a corporation. Two very different things.

I think that 99.999% of people there thought it was an occupation / protest, not an Insurrection. That last bit was created by the media after the event was over, cause, you know, everyone left at 5pm so they could get off the streets before the 6pm curfew. While the politicians scurried away in fear, most of the photographers stayed to take photos.
