I stopped at iOS 13.4.1, just before they added in the contact tracing API. No way I'm installing that shit.

Apple lost my trust long ago. If only Google weren't 1000 times worse in terms of user privacy I might even think of going Android.

On recent iOS, if you hold down the power and one of the volume buttons for a few seconds, it goes to the "Slide to turn off" and emergency-call page. Once you see that screen, Face ID is automatically disabled. So that's one option to use in a pinch (though it turns right back on again when you next unlock your phone).

You also probably want to let go of the buttons pretty soon, because depending on your phone's settings, once you're at that page it might think you want to call Emergency Services anyway and start a countdown for that.

This auto-countdown is enabled/disabled in

Settings → Emergency SOS → Auto Call.

If you disable it you'll have to slide the slider to make an emergency call, which is the way I have mine set.

Apple: "Use Emergency SOS on your iPhone"

Yes, deactivate biometrics (face/fingerprint ID) to unlock your phone. Fall back to using passcodes for the duration of a situation like this.

But also, you know, don't hunt-and-peck your passcode out in the open where people can easily see it, either.

He went to the Netherlands in the fall of 2019 intending to stay for a few months over the winter, but then wound up hunkering down over there when covid hit. So, more than a year now.

Epoch Times is doing a good job. I read them regularly in both their English and Korean editions.

Doctors are like mechanics. Useful. Posses a specific skill-set that I'm glad is available for my use when I need it and I'll happily pay them for their expertise. I respect them for having built that skill.

But "Look up to?" Not for a minute.

Why the fuck would we give up? How many times now has President Trump turned around some hopeless situation that people are dooming about?

The tide coming in is inevitable. Don't panic about each individual wave going out, and don't celebrate every individual wave coming in. The time scale is different. Trust the tide.

"Whew, now I'm safe!"

*Knock on door*

Authorities want to "have a little talk" about him failing the Chinese Communist Party.

(For those out of the loop, this is a privacy thing where user names are replaced with random animal names in the google doc)

He's moving backwards in time!

He knows he has his second term, because he just finished it. And now he's ready for the difficult part—his first term.

But that's okay, because after he finishes going up the escalator in 2015, everybody in the media will love him for decades.

Purely coincidentally, covid has already resulted in me not traveling internationally this year, so that's an easy thing to continue.

Back when I was a Democrat, I was like, "pffff..."

Now I see that she's clearly hot. And was presumably even hotter back then.

Why could I not see this back then?

Can I upvote this twice if I've never bent the knee while cosplaying Wakanda Forever?

He's fun as long as he doesn't talk about President Trump.

The moment Trump comes up, Ben reverts to being a default 2012 Republican.
