Yes but what I'm asking you is what was the other option? This seems to be the best move under the given circumstances. Lay it out for me like I'm a child.
AFAIK the pocket veto only works if congress is not in session. If they're in session I believe the president has a time limit. If you think this is a better option provide proof the president could have sat there for 10 days.
The negotiation for higher checks and less pork. And it IS a negotiation, because the president has limited power here. It started when he pointed out that Americans were only getting $600. Now he has sent the bill back leveraging the Impoundment Act, and has redlined the pork and other issues. He's using the only leverage he has. Is that bad? What else could be done?
Hmm, maybe. The media machine would likely suppress all that information though, and anyone who would be pissed at congress/justices are already pissed because of fraud. Not sure we would be getting a lot out of that.
Thanks for clarifying!
Given that any veto would have been overridden, I fail to see how the current situation is a loss. The bill would have been passed NO MATTER WHAT. Right now Trump is using optics as leverage to further a different agenda. Am I the only person on this board not surprised by this, or are shills/doomers just out?
The BILL is signed. The veto of the BILL would have been OVERRIDDEN.
Answer the question? How is it bad that he's negotiating 230, given that the bill would be passed as-is anyway?
Okay but, if he vetoed, wouldn't congress override, and the bill get passed as-is anyway?
At least this way he's utilizing the power of this: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Congressional_Budget_and_Impoundment_Control_Act_of_1974
What would you have done differently?
Highly doubt the doomers are organic users of this board...
Not necessarily a 'win' but by far the best option given the limited power of the president. If Trump vetoed the bill, it would be overridden anyway. This is obviously much better.
Okay, I don't get it, everyone was saying congress was going to override a veto anyway. How is this not better?

But he doesn't have a dad.
Uh hate to break it to you, but there's only a timer in a game with rules. This game stopped having rules a while ago. Force rules now.
That's not a problem masks can fix. The virus would have become aerosolized in the cabin within 20 minutes and rendered all paper masks useless.
The great thing about modern science is that we've gone from "robust theory backed up by mountains of evidence" to "can you bake a cake made from shit?"
In reality a research team only needs to get a positive statistical result ONCE in order to have enough data to publish a paper. So even though 999 of 1000 shit cakes may completely fail, if you have enough time you can sit in the lab and get the lucky 1 in 1000. The problem is that this doesn't make baking cakes from shit a good idea!
But this study above? They're probably just lying and falsifying data. It happens all. The. Time.

Maybe as dangerous as breaking constitutional election laws?
Shame if he were to misread the tally.
And yet he is responsible for counting, correct? What's stopping him from counting them any way he wants? There will be millions of trump supporters outside to verify his counting algorithm.
He can't refuse them... You mean like how you can't vote if you're not a citizen? Unfortunately we no longer have laws.
I think pence can basically get up there and so whatever the fuck he wants at this point. I foresee a civil war either way.
I don't buy it, 80% of congress voted yay on this bill originally. Given how corrupt our officials are, you think a few phone calls would knock that number below 66%? Is there any precedent for this historically?
