I’m going to rediscover the beauty of this land and the good nature and traditions of its people.
If you're going to be touring, may I suggest vising the Rust Belt? It may not be beautiful necessarily, but the social and urban decay of de-industrialization can be pretty eye opening, especially if you're never been exposed to it before. The Rust Belt remains home to many displaced, blue collar, ex-union workers... the type that Democrats at least traditionally pretended to represent. It's increasingly becoming a base of Trump's support.
If you ever wondered why most advertising is geared towards women, this is why. Women are the primary consumers and easily persuaded by advertising. That's why we have tropes like the idiot husband. I'd argue it's also why so many corporations are "speaking out" on SJW issues. They believe it's good marketing. The few products purchased primarily by men aren't participating in this. Tool companies for example aren't donating for BLM.
A slush fund. WalMart has billions at its disposal. They pay a pittance of $100 million to the diversity industry to keep them out of the headlines for racial issues. It's an old fashioned protection racket.
What the "Racial equality and justice center" does is irrelevant. It's gonna "employ" a few people with massive salaries to make reports that say "Racism is bad." It's a front. It's not going to accomplish anything and it's not designed to.
This is how the game is played in corporate America.
Judicial Watch is currently suing the DC mayor over this. He requested to paint "No one is above the law" on DC streets, since they're now a valid forum for public expression. They gave him the runaround for a month and wouldn't grant him a permit, so now DC is being sued for a pretty open-and-shut case of violating the First Amendment.
Honestly, a lot of urban businesses support the riots (or at least say they do). I've seen several companies put out ads like "It's just broken glass guys, human life is more important." It's like some new form of stockholm syndrome.
Moral of the story: Work for a small/medium sized business owned by a conservative. Most business owners are conservatives.
Working for the government or a massive Fortune 500 company is a big risk if you're a conservative... even moreso if you're white, male and straight. Good luck ever getting promoted.
This is big if it actually happens. A lot of prestigious universities rely on those sweet, sweet out-of-state tuition dollars from international students. A lot of universities have satellite offices in China and recruit students directly from there.
Tuition from international students funds SO MUCH of the of the insanity and bloat in higher education. Universities are missing out on sports revenue due to COVID, they're losing a lot of international tuition, and they'll be facing increasing calls from their domestic students to cut tuition rates. I can't wait!
OR businesses could stay neutral on politics and cater to the widest possible set of consumers?
But most businesses and brands have chosen a side, so let's make sure people know where they stand. What's wrong with transparency? Nike stands with Kapernick when he says F the fourth of July? Ok, great, let's make sure people don't forget that.
Amen, I for one already give my patronage where possible (mostly local) to the "non-woke" businesses that resist hopping on this clown bandwagon.
Someone needs to make a directory of where companies stand politically. I know the left has a website called Progressive Shopper where they rank the top ~10 companies in each industry from most liberal to most conservative. I use that to patronize some of the "worst" (ie. most conservative) companies.
It sucks that this is what it's come to, but if companies want to choose sides and play politics, this is the consequences. We'll soon have left-wing companies and right-wing companies.
Correct. Look at the national media. Nobody is talking about this. CHOP turned out bad, so the msm covered it less and less. Atlanta is the same way. Now that police have been thoroughly demoralized and crime is spiking... well... everywhere, the corporate media wants to get back to talking about Kanye and the latest reality show. Not happening.
Exactly. Who does Bezos think is on his side? The right hates him because of the Washington Post, and the left hates him because he's rich.
It seems the only thing that right and left can agree on is hating these giant globalist corporations like Amazon, Google, WalMart, etc.
