I'm hopeful we will, look at the several new communities that have joined just in the past few days. Freedom is a popular thing, and I predict communities and users will only continue to grow. Each new wave will bring more and richer content here, with heavier moderation, reposts, sanitized brand-friendly content, and bot supported advertising there.

NextDoor's insistence on people using their real names freaks me out. I need to give my real name, and display my neighborhood? Anybody who looks at property tax records can easily find out where you live. NextDoor is basically a doxing platform.

Yep. this is how is happens. The smart people leave (or get banned) from the platform, and what's left is a cesspool of screeching idiots and marketing. Look at Twitter.

It's MySpace all over again. MySpace failed because the college students all migrated to Facebook. Nobody wanted to hang around with the inactive profiles and autoplay music anymore.

Thank you, this is an awesome idea! Activist investors have been successful in pushing "green" nonsense for far too long. Activists even forced MasterCard shareholders to vote on denying service for "hate speech" last year. It's time our voice gets heard as well!

yet confused and feels oppressed when she is cancelled for explicit threats of violence

She just learned the hard way that Twitter =/= Real life

When I was in high school or college (years ago), my teacher made the comment "If you want to make a movement grow, ban it." It turns out freedom is a popular idea. People don't like being told how to think.

Relax guys, they were just controlling the carbon emissions from this unpermitted public burning!

It should be based on what we're seeing now.

We're seeing millions of new gun owners though. Gun stores can't keep stock on the shelves. Are those people just gonna forget they're a gun owner and go back to voting for gun control?

you can't have people threatening to kill people

On Twitter you can, but Twitter isn't real life.

This girl just learned that lesson.

What, you don't like being pandered to? Look, we hung a rainbow flag and everything! Are you sure you don't want to come in and buy our special rainbow colored product? We made it just for you!

It's funny, because the rank and file are often too lazy or ignorant to even explain what the terms they throw around mean. Ask your average lefty what, say, "Democratic Socialism" means, and most of the time they'll tell you to Google it, or "educate yourself." The average leftist is so ignorant and pathetic they don't even try to indoctrinate you.

What do they think about their hero Mitt Romney marching with BLM in DC?

jimbad05 1 point ago +1 / -0

That makes a lot of sense. It's scary how powerful China is getting, and how much influence they have here.

jimbad05 4 points ago +4 / -0

I said robots, then digg started doing too. I said obama has an army of bots

Of course Reddit and Twitter use bots. You didn't think they'd accurately report to their investors how many real people they've driven away from their toxic platforms, did you?

Chinese market

This is what I don't understand. The Chinese market is growing, and they have increasing influence in Hollywood. But the Chinese don't exactly love black people. Africans in China are treated terribly. Why would the Chinese be supportive of BLM? Just because it divides America?

and hiring preferences

Unrelated, but I assume you're with a small/medium sized business?

In my career, I've noticed the bigger the company, the more liberal the culture.

I'd argue that's why privacy is important. Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn... anywhere that's linked with your real identity isn't the place to post controversial opinions unless you want to get canceled.

Twitter today kind of reminds me of MySpace in that it's filled up with trashy people who nobody wanted to be around. MySpace died because all the smart people moved to Facebook, which was only for college students at first. Twitter is dying because they're literally banning 50% of the country and doxxing the few they miss. The smart people walk away, and you're left with a platform full of toxic morons who nobody wants to be around.

The league cannot afford to lose advertisers otherwise the league would fail.

They're already going to lose advertisers due to low ratings. John Schnatter (Papa John) talked about this before he was ousted. When Kapernick started all this crap a few years ago, the NFL's ratings took a hit because of the controversy. Papa John's paid a lot of money to be the official pizza sponsor of the NFL with the understanding it meant their advertising would be seen by a certain amount of eyeballs. When Papa John's didn't get what they paid for, they were rightfully pissed.

How low do you think the NFL's ratings will be when they return to regular play?

jimbad05 3 points ago +3 / -0

Exactly. I don't see sports bouncing back after COVID is over. NASCAR was on the ropes before this, but now they're dead and never coming back. MLB? Long, boring games that nobody watches and everyone has learned to live without during the pandemic. NFL? Their ratings were already suffering when Kapernick started kneeling. They'll be in the toilet when they return.

A lot of RINOS are sellouts. They're got into the party for the perpetual war of the GWB era (see: John Bolton) and they stay in the party because they want to push for mass immigration to keep wages low (see: Lindsey Graham's recent comments on H1B visas).

Right-wing populism is a pretty new and powerful force, but Republicans are now the best representatives for the white working class. It's almost laughable how corrupt millionaires like Biden still act like they appeal to union voters.

WE ARE BETTER!

I agree, just signed up yesterday. When I saw sign up was literally just "create a username and password... provide an email if you want" I was pleasantly surprised!

Most website signups nowadays feel like you're applying for a mortgage. They want real name, phone number, email address, multi factor authentication... there's just too much friction and too little privacy.

jimbad05 7 points ago +7 / -0

Multi Factor Authentication is critical for important stuff. Banking information? Personal health records? Absolutely, set up MFA!

Some website you use for chit chat? Who cares?Your comment history isn't your life's work.
