Haha, no no no. State-side is where your haircut is measured in thousandths of an inch. I will take my best guess as a Marine veteran that these guys were probably MARSOC. Special forces in the Marine corps get a blind eye toward some things. The fact that those are official portraits while in their Service Alpha uniforms screams to me that they have those nasty haircuts on purpose as a point of pride. Those are "Navy reg" at best. I swear they'd be hounded and humiliated if they walked around like that in any 'normal' area of a Marine Corps base. I remember when I was in, a female Gunny stood at the entrance to the PX one day for the sole purpose of blasting the grooming and appearance of any Marine that walked in. They have to be super high speed special boys that live on their own little nook of the base.
