The military exalts the nation or national interest above the individual, it has rigid hierarchy and classes are paid according to their rank - so there is economic and social regimentation - and it forcibly suppresses its opposition. That's the definition of fascism and that's also the design of the military. It's designed to be fascist and it never becomes communist. The reason people are confused about this is because Communism as described by Marx never materializes and never will. I'm not saying communism has never been tried, I'm saying communism has been tried many times and every attempt failed, leading to a dictatorial state and millions of dead people.
