Communism- a political theory derived from Karl Marx, advocating class war and leading to a society in which all property is publicly owned and each person works and is paid according to their abilities and needs.
Yeah, sounds like they fit both definitions.

I can't find anything that mentions how many times he was actually hit. In an interview he says he was shot "In the mouth, in my neck, in my arm, in my back, in my leg" so that's at least five times
