Every republican member of congress should be on TV and Social demanding that Democrats immediately stop the hateful incitement of violence over roe v wade.

Japanese "zombie companies" have been an issue for decades because Japan tends to prop up failing companies rather than let them go bankrupt. The result is large numbers companies that add no value and barely make enough to cover the interest obligations on their debt. The Japanese government and major corporations work together to absorb the failing companies into more profitable ones through merger deals that don't make sense. Helps keep unemployment down but it's a house of cards.

Our Pfizer, who art in Washington, hallowed be thy name; thy injections come; thy masks be done on children as it is a mandate. Give us this day our daily booster; and forgive us our myocarditis as we imprison those who disagree with us; and lead us not into logical thought, but deliver us from freedom and knowledge. Amen.

Always love it when election season rolls around and all of the politicians start showing up in churches on the local news. I have noticed that, oddly enough, the politicians preferred form of worship requires that they have a camera crew along with them and that the press pool be notified in advance. The most ludicrous are the white politicians that find a black church to make their appearance at.

I'd have more respect for the church if they told them to shove off and not use religion as a prop.

A major fire has broken out near Geneva Airport at a partially-built reception centre for asylum seekers.>

No idea but if construction work was underway (don't know), first guess would be a construction related accident. Particularly if there was any welding going on.

Hard to say, really. 100% certain it won't be an "I stand with Taiwan" stamp.

Anonymous tip line to report of NPR employees for mask violations, did you say? And the penalty for a mask violation is termination? And NPR published the phone number to call? I can't possibly see how this could go wrong.

I used to say that America was on a path to commit national energy suicide. I now understand it's a homicide. You don't like gasoline prices? Wait until you see your electricity bill in a few months. Natural gas futures are up 300%.

Sounded like at least part of his brain wants to confess. I wonder if he sleepwalks, endlessly scrubbing the spot from his hands...Out, damned spot.... What need we fear who knows it when none can call our power to account?

This is true. Musk could just build the termination fee into a new but much lower tender offer. Or he could just do nothing and fight the termination fee in court if Twitter chooses to pursues it. Twitter has so many holes and fires in the boat at the moment, I don't know that adding a protracted legal battle with the world's richest man is a sound business strategy.

Idaho has a Biden monument you can sleep in. The Big Potato hotel. https://idahopotato.com/big-idaho-potato-hotel

Musk can't just walk away>

No but he can build the $1B termination fee into a revised offer that's half the $44B current tender. Offer $22B +$1B termination fee

Or he can drag Twitter to court over breach for misrepresenting their financials and pull them through a keyhole for years after witch they might get a fraction of the termination fee.

Or he can just pay the $1B termination fee, watch twitter burn to the ground and then buy the ashes for a fraction of the value.

Or he could deorbit a swarm of Starlink satellites onto twitter HQ. (Unlikely but would be hilarious.)

The point is, even when you're the richest man on the planet you might not be able to "just walk away" but you can damn sure drive away in your Rolls Royce while lighting cigars with $100 bills and setting loose a troop of trained chimps to fling poop at your adversaries.

It doesn't work that way. If the county takes over the bonds, the county will lien Disney property and make a special assessment to have Disney pay the debt.

BUT the reason you can be sure that this is a bullshit threat from Disney is that they are talking about it in the press and pushing this story to gen up voter backlash. If Disney thought for a minute they could dump $2 billion in debt on the state and not repay it, those bastards would 100% keep it quiet and not say shit about it until it was a done deal.

Side note: Running RCID at a loss and issuing bonds for improvements was another convenient tax write off / cash flow vehicle for the Mouse. Soon to be gone.

Nope. Doesn't work that way, Disney. County will assume the bonds, slap a $2B lien on your property and then charge yearly special assessments on Disney's tax bill until the debt is repaid. Should Disney not pay, the County can foreclose the lien and sell the property...to Universal.

It's a scare tactic and lefties don't understand how special assessments work. Yes Reedy Creek Improvement District has about $1B in bond debt. When the county takes it over, the county will place $1B in liens on the Disney properties of RCID and charge them a yearly special assessment above their normal taxes until the bonds are satisfied. If Disney doesn't pay, the county can foreclose on the liens and take the property.

This is correct. Been going on at MIA long before COVID. There were vendors that would wrap your luggage after you cleared security for a fee. On international flights to South America it was particularly popular to prevent theft at the the destination airport. I saw a guy once check a full set of car tires on a trip to Columbia and he had them all wrapped together in the blue plastic. (Less worried about theft in that case, he was making the tires count as one "bag" )

Ventilating Nancy will come with an explosion risk due to the latent Vodka fumes. I'm afraid it's a risk that we will all have to bear. For safety.
