I don't know if Jr. would be a great candidate (even though I think there is a good possibility that he would), but it would be ridiculous and stupid to reject a great candidate just because his father was president. It would be comparable to affirmative action, when you might reject the most qualified candidate for the job because he/she is not of the right race.
In my opinion, Pence is great. He's probably the best VP Trump could have picked, but he's not president material - not in the national and international climate we are in, and will likely be in for a long time.
Pence is too "nice," and we don't need "nice" right now. Besides that, a lot of people would not want to vote for someone as religious as Pence, and I don't know if he could inspire the kind of grass roots support that Trump has inspired. I doubt he could pull the same rally crowds as Trump does because, I'm sorry to say it, but Pence is kind of a real politician and kind of teleprompter-boring.

Also, I don't think Trump should take any senator off their Senate seat, and give the Democrats a chance to cheat in another special election. I agree. Pence is too much of a real politician and, to be honest, he is too nice and kind of boring. He's the best VP Trump could have, but he's not the kind of president we need for now, and for many years to come.
