One on left is the "3 Gorges Dam" everyone talks about. It was built in 2006 "to last 1,000 years" (later revised to 100 years and now referred to "sorry people, the damn has done its best, don't blame the dam).
One on the right closer to Yichang is the "Gezhouba Dam". It was finished in 1988 after almost 20 years of building. Unlike 3 gorges, it was built before China got uber-corrupt with their state-owned-private-enterprise system (fake capitalism icing on a communist shitcake) and before everyone started putting more and more sand into the concrete to squeeze a few extra renmimbi from each ton sold -- diluting concrete to the point it's basically just sand with a little knockoff elmer's glue to barely hold it together long enough to sell the project its used for. Plus the islands and widening of the yangtze just before the Gezhouba dam means it has a much lower probability to fail outright, as it has better natural defenses.
That is of little consolation in the end: If the 3 gorges damn completely fails you'll see 40 billion cubic meters of reservoir water unleashed at the rate of about 300,000-400,000 cubic meters per second, causing a flood wave that will travel at roughly 100km/h (about 60mph) towards the Gezhouba dam. With that amount of force, Gezhouba dam is irrelevant. Whether it just collapses immediately or continues to stand, the water will just go over and around the whole area, notably much of it throughout Yichang city. Everything in Yichang below the rail line becomes submerged. For reference, most of Yichang is about 50m in elevation and the flood waters would reach at least 70m in the city basin. That's 20m (65 feet), or roughly a 5-6 story building of water. Because the flood waters will reach Yichang less than half an hour after the 3 gorges dam fails, little evacuation will have taken place and millions will drown.
Flooding Yichang city does at least slow the flood wave as the water takes its time to fill in the whole city basin, but regardless within the next 12 hours everything on the banks of the river all the way down to Shashi city 200km downstream is washed away or destroyed. Hopefully many of those people take the hint of all electric power disappearing in the area as a hint and have time to evacuate. CCP has already evacuated some 40 million people from the area.
As the water moves downstream, city after city is flooded. After Shashi city comes the Jianghan plain. 40% of domestic grain production, 2/3rds of all freshwater fish, population centers for 400 million people go underwater. This includes Wuhan city -- gone. The Beijing-Guangzhou rail link is destroyed. All the way to Nanjing, the devastation is biblical.
Militarily, nearly half of the Chinese total armed forces/assets go underwater: 1/5th of the armored division, over a third of the infantry division, nearly the entirety of the airborne division: flooded, inoperable for weeks, heavily damaged at least.
A failure of the three gorges dam would plunge China into total chaos. I doubt anyone could reasonably predict what China or the rest of the world would look like a year after its failure. The best we can do is speculate a wide range of potential outcomes/fallouts, with the worst case scenarios including nuclear shooting wars as neighbors and rivals attempt to take advantage of the situation and a collapsing CCP, desperately clinging to its last vestiges of power, resorts to lobbing nukes on its downward death spiral.
Woodman's... greetings, fellow Wisconsin/Illinois pede! (stateline pede here)
It's like that scene in "Lord of War" where the plane gets stripped down for its parts so fast it would put any paid professional crew to shame.
Won't work. Deranged leftists only see the movie they want to see now, no matter what is playing in front of them. They see the Albuquerque dude get hit in the face with a skateboard, back up for 50 yards trying to get away from the mob, turn his back to the mob to walk away then get sucker-tackled before he pulls his weapon and fires, plain as day, even in slow-mo and frame-by-frame, but all they see is "white supremacist terrorist walks into peaceful crowd and shoots people".
Facts don't matter to these fucknuckles. Stats don't matter to these dimwits. To quote Biden, they choose truth over facts, and their truth is that we are all ignorant redneck racist nazis who need to be placed in a gulag or even exterminated.
Media is complicit with the Antifaggots and BurnLootMayhem shiteaters. Any stats quoted will be presented as "thoroughly debunked" by LiberalThinktankXYZ, even if the stats came from LiberalThinktankXYZ themselves. Anything and everything will be taken out of context, put in the Goebbelsian spin machine, and regurgitated out as pre-written hashtag-friendly talking points quickly picked up by every leftist and Dem politician on Twatter.
These fucktards are secular religious zealots now. The catechisms of their neomarxist faith consider any questioning or disagreement of the day's talking points blasphemy, heresy, and punishable by beatings or death. Silence or attempts to stay neutral are also considered heretical, as Tucker points out you have to either kneel before them, prostrate yourself at their feet and beg for mercy, at which point (once you're disarmed) they will likely try to burn you at the stake anyway.
Because after a shooting that is actually justified, they still have to put up with fucknuckle media twats asking bullshit race-baiting questions whose sole purpose is to inflame the situation, while earning the attention of the now uber-violent, out-of-control, mindless mob just looking to burn shit to the ground and first place they're gonna go is the police chiefs house.
You can till right through the grass with a decent roto-tiller. The tines will eat right through the sod, mix it up with the soil underneath. Need to go at least a foot deep and hope it's not sandy or clay underneath the sod. Can always throw a few bags of topsoil or amendments on top before tilling. 1/3rd peat, 1/3rd compost, 1/3rd soil is a good mixture.
If you don't have access to a roto-tiller, you can do it the old fashioned method with a shovel. It's backbreaking work and tilling an acre with a shovel like that will take several days, but with 10-15 people you could have it done in an afternoon.
Once you've got the patch tilled, make some rows with a furrower or shovel. Gets you nice mounded aisles where you can start your planting.
CNN: Trump releases ad sowing division between rioters and peaceful citizens!!!
Literally right now on twitter: "The Hitler/Bible going around is Photoshopped. That so many people (including me initially) fell for it, is itself an indictment of Trump and all he stands for."
OK. IN OTHER WORDS, the twat was duped by fake news (again), but her actually falling for the fake news somehow proves that Trump is hitler?
HONK. HONK.
I hear ya.. email USED to be a colossal pain (seriously.. especially DKIM/SPF/DMARC configs) but these days the open source packages have matured to the point of commercial quality w/very little config tweaking... I get more spam in my gmail inbox than I do on my self-hosted domain/email, and last time I was in an admin panel or CLI was maybe 5 or 6 months ago just to revoke a few certificates from a device I was sundowning. It's gotten that good.
If you're worried about downtime while you work on your freenas box, set up a proxmox mail gateway HA cluster and have a raspberry pi 4 serve as the backup node ;-) Won't bounce a single delivery attempt!
Spin up your own mail server. Plenty of free, secure, open-source mail server packages, many with anti-spam and security features as good as anything you'd get from major providers. Web portal, iOS/Android, outlook, filters, AV, 2FA, PGP encryption, etc.
Use a small virtual or physical server on your home network for ultimate control. If you're worried about compromising your home network security, just isolate the server on its own subnet, spin up a free linux VPS on some hosting service and install a VPN server on it with some very very simple iptables rules on it, have the mail server tunnel out to it using VPN and route all outbound/inbound traffic exclusively through that. With proper domain name config and a clean IP from the VPS provider, all your mails will get through and you'll have no worries with spambots.
Bonus is you can create as many mailboxes as you want.
What is instagram?
The dude at the end made me laugh soooo hard...
You can hear the rubber bullet being fired... then a whooosh-whack as it smacks the dude, the pain delay as he collapses and brain begins processing the hurt... the "aaaarrrrgh uuuuuugh" sooo satisfying..
Then some helpers come by.. "dude grab my hat"... wait for it... wait for it...
And a flashbang goes off next to his head. "AARRRUUGUUGHHH"
Watching that is like eating a freshly grilled juicy steak with a bottle of jack while getting blown by a playboy centerfold and watching your classic mustang get a fresh new coat of wax buffed in. You'll rewind it at least a few times for the replay I guarantee it!
Any gun is better than no gun. Hopefully you'll never need it.
That being said, plenty of guides available, some good ones posted below.
I would just advise to keep your environment/surroundings in mind when making a decision. If you live in a newer apartment building or townhome type deal, keep safety of neighbors in mind (poorly placed rounds penetrating multiple walls into other units). If it's purely home defense and will never leave the house, start with the layout of your home -- room to maneuver, position of kids room(s) in relation to likely entry/defense points, safe & secure storage of the firearm(s) vs reach-ability in a quick hurry.
Get your wife something she'd be comfortable with as a backup, if she's willing. If she's intimidated by firearms and won't ever go to the range, get her a small caliber, easy/foolproof to use like a .22 SA+DA revolver. That way in a real emergency you're both armed. Two defenders, each with their own weapon, are typically much better off than one shooter with multiple weapons.
Did you see the longer video?
https://twitter.com/CassandraRules/status/1266991733017108480
I'd like to see if there's even video leading up to where THAT one started, but the dude with the machete was surrounded by half a dozen fucktards throwing FULL SIZED BRICKS at his motherfucking head.
Dude was stupid to bring a machete (gun much better) and not clear how he got into the spot of half a dozen thugs throwing bricks at his head trying to kill him, but at that point his only fucking exit was to run towards the thinnest part of the crowd ganging up on him.
Looks like he tripped and fell when he reached the curb, that's when the whole flock of animals ganged up on him and tried to murder him.
Is it best example? No. The elderly couple in Rochester getting beat up by thugs has no such excuse like "but he had a machete", for example.
But don't buy the bullshit "he had a machete and was chasing down a dude" line. It's clearly not that simple either.
Most of that graffiti on the CNN logo outside their HQ was "Fuck Trump"
This is what you get after feeding anti-Trump propaganda via the airwaves and social media 24/7. There is a large slice of the population who just gobbles it up and takes it as the honest truth.
Imagine what these mentally unstable fuckwits will be like during Trump's 6th or 7th year in office.
Don Lemon right now: "wait...wait...but.... we're on THEIR side, don't they know that?!? I mean... I pandered on-air about 'systemic racism' at least a dozen times every hour the past few days and followed up with a few 'orange man bad' quips half the time!!"
The balding eunuch has something to cry about now.
I remember about 6-8 months ago, there was a comment on a T_D thread about chinese-style social credit scores getting tied to your utility usage. Someone speculated "sorry, your phone has been disconnected because you known to have conservative viewpoints.
I remember thinking to myself, "meh.. that will never happen here in the USA. Even radical leftists would never support cutting off basic utilities to someone just because of political views".
Now here it is, leftists actually calling for basic utilities to be cut off from someone just because of political views.
Wow. Just wow.
Here's what that same data looks like without the propagandistic manipulation:
Virginia: https://bing.com/covid/local/virginia_unitedstates?vert=graph Maryland: https://bing.com/covid/local/maryland_unitedstates?vert=graph DC: https://bing.com/covid/local/districtofcolumbia_unitedstates?vert=graph
I read that in my head using Alan Rickman's voice.
It's not just a withdrawal -- DOJ HAS DROPPED FLYNN CASE.
AT LEAST ONE person in that line was staged.
In other words ALL OF THEM. PLANTS. WHOLE THING WAS A SHAM.
The "at least one" bit is such a riot. How fucking dumb do they think their viewers are? They must think no one can read between the lines.

A few of their headlines on Kavanaugh:
"Kavanaugh is lying. His upbringing explains why."
"Kavanaugh finally showed us who he really is and he's unfit for the court"
"Why should we believe Kavanaugh?"
"Brett Kavanaugh's unlikely story"
"Kavanaugh: 'We drank beer'"
"The staggering hypocrisy of Brett Kavanaugh"
"Ford’s testimony was devastating. Kavanaugh’s was volcanic."
Here's my take, I live 15 minutes away, right across the stateline in Winnebago co. IL. County is home to Rockford, the second largest city/metro in IL and went for cankles in 2016 too. Went for Trump this year. Almost unimaginable because we have a huge contingent of welfare voters across the river on our west side where real estate taxes are $75/year and on the East side are 2nd or 3rd highest in the country ($7k/year for typical $120k ranch home). Dems have always gerrymandered the districts to place the west side combined with all the rural/republican votes all the way to the Iowa border and negate those votes, while districting the East side with all the more republican votes to the East since that district will go R anyway.
This area is heavy industrial on the I-90 corridor. Our airport now does tons of cargo and we have rail ports all active again. Many new factories have been going up along I-90 particularly right across the border in WI (janesville, beloit). It's brimming with new activity and I drive by all the sparkly new factories that have been built the past 2-3 years any time I head to Wisconsin to buy New Glarus beer (awesome craft brand that only is sold in WI).
Down ballot (R) assembly reps totaled 36,967 votes (-166) and (D) reps 46,367 votes (-282). Either those were flipped in the glitch too, or with all the local unions endorsing Trump in 2020 the factory workers voted Trump for prez but (D) downballot and the election officials thought it would be a switch they could sneak in without anyone noticing or crying foul -- remember, when Trump had his rally here in Janseville, nearly 1/3rd of the attendees were registered democrats. Maybe once the local corrupt election officials saw the downballot wins, they figured "let's just swap Trump/Biden and no one will notice".
Or, it could just be a reporting error.
Whatever the case, needs to be investigated. Having the totals swap like that mid-count, especially given the unique circumstances of the area (resurgent industrial, flips to Repub./Trump in neighboring counties and metros) is enough to warrant looking into it more closely.
