I disagree that most gains are due to inflation, but your point stands that the government does tax that portion of your gains that are due to inflation. Also, they're the ones that caused the inflating through the Fed.

Excellent summary of the problems with the original "Net Neutrality" rules and actual solutions to the supposed problems they were trying to solve. Of course, now we know they weren't trying to solve those problems. They wanted more power.
You understand Net Neutrality wasn't what it purported to be, right? I supported it initially until I read some of the proposed rules and a bunch of perspectives on what could be done.
It's like the "Federalists" claiming that title even though they were Authoritarians in actuality. The True Federalists, the ones that actually wanted federated states, independent states that came to together for certain limited functions, got branded Anti-Federalists.
It might take time, but if you put pedes in local positions, eventually some will rise up. I don't think taking ourselves out of the fight is the right call.
I do understand your sentiment and I'm right there with your frustration and anger. We can learn from warfare and our enemies. Infiltrate and subvert. We just happen to actually care about the country and freedom as opposed to the opposite.
