So don't be a dick when you're wrong - it's a bad look.
You asked for a source. You were given a jumping off point to go find the information you wanted yourself. You simply state "Appreciate the link, but it isn't the source." instead of investigating further on your own. As an independent third party this is what it looked like to me: you ask for info, you don't get the exact info you asked for but were given a link that could get you started, and you start talking about misinformation being proliferated on the site. You ask for someone to do the work for you, and when they don't do it "correctly", you act like a self-righteous prick. It's obvious that there is no source that the first person could have pointed you to in order to satisfy your request.
because it doesn't provide an estimate of the denominator.
Do you really need someone to help you with this number as well? Even if it was provided to you in exactly the manner you requested, would you believe it?
Appreciate the link, but it isn't the source.
One more click and you're there. Even better, use search engines and you can find whatever sources you want, do the math and figure it all you instead of concern trolling.
Thanks for the immediate downvote instead of discussing your point. I guess you can't teach an old dog new tricks, "recovering" Libaholic.
I checked testing rate vs new cases for the entire country and found that they're very well correlated. I'm sure if you look at smaller population groups (by state, county or region), the trend would be even clearer. So every time you see "surge in new cases", it is usually created with a rise in testing.
The link clearly states the source and gives a fucking link. What the fuck are you on about?
Yes, dinosaurs are reptiles. No need to fact check or deboooonk.
They'll have to continue to increase testing to get there, but there are a lot of things working against them. We're nearing the point where 5% of the population has been infected, which is the lower limit of the estimate of maximum number of people that get infected with a specific strain of the flu every year. The only way I see them hitting this mark is if they start to roll in this year's flu strain with the results (false positives). They did it with ballots, so it won't be that much of a stretch.
I noticed some fuckery with the number of cases versus testing in the Czech Republic (where I currently live) and decided to look at the data myself. It's available in many places. I chose this website: https://ourworldindata.org. What I found is that the number of cases very heavily correlates with the number of tests administered.
The number of cases is falling off here, and so I wanted to confirm what I thought was occurring. We started a pretty hefty lockdown about 6 weeks ago which was justified by a "surge in cases that would soon overwhelm hospitals". Being the curious pede that I am, I searched around and noticed that the surge in cases coincided with a huge rise in testing. Now cases are falling off, and guess what... so are the number of tests! Wow, what a coincidence. If you're curious, the fuckery can be seen here
Anyway, I decided to look at the US as a whole and this is what I found. I'll probably mess with the data a bit more and check rate of death as time goes on. I'm pretty sure it will fall asymptotically to regular flu-induced rate of death.
hashtag me too. I like a lot of the philosophy of the republican party, but the execution is just god awful a lot of the time. Bush Jr. was the low point for me when it came to the republican party, so when 0bama came around I was happy to vote for him. That motherfucker just doubled down on all of W's terrible policy and actions, and that was the beginning of my turning point completely away from the dems. After BLM wave 1 and Hill-dog's loss, the way they just fucking destroyed the internet.. destroyed Reddit, youtube, facebook... the way they made every single fucking thing about their message and virtue signaling but not actually lifting a finger or passing intelligently designed laws, I'll never vote for a democrat as long as I'm alive.
The appeal to authority fallacy seems to be the flavor of the week for the left.
DISPOOOTED AND DEBOOOOONKED
Probably the only person to ever watch the movie Robocop and say, "Yeah, good movie, but having it set in Detroit?? I just don't see it. 5/7"
Here's a suggestion on how to fix this moving forward. Hang traitors and cheaters from trees. Consequences to one's actions will clear shit up real quick.
Also, this rep doesn't know that an affidavit is in essence an oath.
What happened to all their masks? Did Corona take a 15 minute break?
Jesus fucking christ whenever I say anything positive about Trump or that as a society we're overreacting to WuFlu I'm labeled a Fox News zombie by everyone around me. I haven't watched more than 5 minutes of it in my life other than a couple of segments by Tucker on youtube. It boggles peoples minds that you can actually go find info and numbers on your own and think about what it all means without having to be told what to think.
I told a flaming libtard that Fox News is trying hard to veer center by employing both sides (of the uniparty but I didn't call it that) and the dude was not having it. I dropped a few names and he insisted that Christopher Wallace was a republican. I guess it's because he works for Fox and that's the only output this guy was programmed for (Fox = evil republican). Pulled it up on my phone. Nope, you're wrong. Fox News isn't right wing nazi propaganda. It's shit, and we all know now that it's shit, but you're too dumb to know what to think on on your own because your brain is addled goo.
I regularly vote absentee and the option for straight party ticket votes are always on there. I've seen it on ballots for Michigan, Washington, and California. It is definitely the lazy way to vote, but let's face it, most people are lazy. They vote for the perceived mission of their party and could care less who fills lower offices. Michigan's ballot had elections for the governor of Wayne State University, and somehow this was a partisan office. ¯_(ツ)_/¯
Are there any other types of democrats?
I did, yes.
I get the same thing using this combo.
and hair dye
It won't help with arguments. Libs don't give a shit about reality, but they will vehemently argue what they believe to be true (i.e. - what they are told to believe by whatever shit news source they use). I had a very short discussion with a lib about the transcripts of the phone calls to Ukraine when peach mints was the big lib talk of the day. I asked him if he actually read the transcripts himself. OF COURSE he did! So I started asking him about specific points and he said that things were redacted and there were ellipses indicating that sections were missing. I told him he can get the full transcript, but the truth is that he never read any transcripts and was full of shit. At that point, the discussion always devolves into straw men and ad hominem.
That was just a few pages. Imagine some lib reading or even skimming through 104 pages of reality. It's a good idea to know what's there, but I doubt it will help you set any records straight.
literally shaking right now
my pronouns.. okay I'm out
I dispoot all of this.
I found this and this in all of about 5 minutes of using the link provided. If I were concerned about the precision of the 99.96% figure so I could argue semantics with someone, maybe I would do a bit more investigating, myself.
You're right that it's not a crime to ask for sources, but it's probably one of the stupidest trends to ever be borne out of Reddit. What good is it to go asking people on the internet to back up their claims? I can find you as many "sources" as you need that say the Earth is flat. Would you accept them? Telling someone that they have a 99.96% chance of surviving a disease may prompt them into thinking a little more intelligently about Corona, or it may prompt them into finding some counter-source that says they only have a 99.95% chance that they'll survive, and if they're anything like you they'll say, "HA, you were wrong! Go fuck yourself!!". Also, what's with the precision? Straight division of death/case for all age groups gives >98%. Is that number not good enough?
