It has been so long since a legislator did anything substantive that they probably wouldn't know how even if they wanted to. The only substantive thing they can do is write and pass legislation, and they haven't done that in years. Instead, they rely on their benefactors on K-street to write it for them, and we get responses like, "we have to pass it to know what is in it." The rest is just political theatre.

Meanwhile the news are bombarding us with COVID spike articles that reference hospital bed shortages without ever mentioning how few of the beds are COVID patients. Propaganda at its finest.

Probably but there is a lag in reporting so will be sometime before we have better 2020 numbers. I looked at FL a few days ago and over the last 5 years the total goes up on average about 4,359/year. However, the last 2 years it has only gone up about 1700/yr. This year with a couple months to go we are currently up only 749 but there is a lag so will be a while for official total for year. Nevertheless, it doesn't appear as if there is the huge covid spike we are all led to believe. I should also point out that I looked at a few websites and the yearly death totals varied by 1-2% between sites for same year.
