Gotta say, I live in Cleveland and I'm apprehensive about wearing my Trump 2020 hat. You guys live in SoCal which probably has higher levels of TDS than here. I don't want to be "that guy" who wears a hat to start trouble, but I also want fellow Cleveland pedes to know they're not alone. Considering how much trouble the country has had with the definitions of "Peaceful Protester" and "Rioter", it's not far-fetched to want to contemplate the legal definition of "public".
Remember PRISM? Looks like we swapped one company that spies on the American people for another company that spies on the American people. I'm 100% behind taking action against TikTok for breaking the law and spying, but I'm very skeptical of the deal that just went down to "solve" this problem.

Similarly, I have been saying the Republicans missed a big opportunity in the Barr hearing. The Democrats were handing them the election on a silver platter with how they were acting, and I think if they would have grilled him hard, asking the questions the Dems were asking, but LET HIM ANSWER THEM, they'd show the world they were taking it seriously while the Dems were acting like children.
If they could've show they could do the Dems job better than the Dems could, and still make Barr look good, the Dems never would recover from it. Instead, they just threw softballs at him the whole time and sucked his dick. Absolutely squandered opportunity.
Likewise, even though I really like his confrontational style, if he backed up for one second, and sat down and addressed every Dem concern one by one, and show why his plan is better than the Dems, we'd get enough salvageable Lefties on our side.

I think we need to have some sort of playlist of videos of "Peaceful Protesters". I've got a few bookmarks in my browser for some Cleveland local stuff, would be good if us pedes can put together some sort of list of videos anytime someone says "Peaceful Protesters"

Man, you do you, but I just can't fathom the idea of cutting off family members for their political beliefs (also probably because almost my whole family is pretty left), I think one of our world's biggest problems is how we really suck at disagreeing.
Granted, it sounds like in your situation they did a lot of the work of cutting themselves off, and if they're trying demand access to your kids while basically de-personing you, I understand, but that sounds like you're cutting them off for de-personing you and not cutting them off because they're far left.
I've had the same thing happen with friends who basically cut me off because I was "promoting racism and homophobia", but hey, even if they kept all their left beliefs but decided to talk to me again, I'd be friends with them again.
