I honestly don't see how the pipe dream of secession would ever happen. Democrats don't care about optics. The first state that tries to seriously secede would be instantly crushed by military troops taking over the state Capitol and instituting a federal takeover of the state government. Sorry, man, but you really don't understand the technical underpinnings. You're looking at it conceptually ("A single entity would have to own over 50% of all total bitcoin, or 51% of all the computing power to have "control" over it") and I'm talking about making it impossible to perform transactions.
Without the ability to trade, Bitcoin is worthless. The entire thing is just numbers in a ledger, with everyone sharing the same ledger. If you prevent people from transmitting transactions or prevent verification of transaction, you've killed Bitcoin.
There are numerous technical ways to make it very difficult to trade bitcoin. Can you make it absolutely impossible? No, but they don't have to do that. They just have to make it bad enough that it scares nearly everyone away from it.
They used to say that shutting down Bittorrent movie piracy was impossible. You know how they killed it? THE ISPS SCAN FOR BITTORENT TRAFFIC AND RAT YOU OUT TO HOLLYWOOD. I've actually received warnings from my ISP about disconnecting my Internet. I don't download movies anymore. Did they kill the entire concept of movie trading? No, people still do it, but it's 1% the size of what it was.

Not true. Bitcoin only has value if you can trade with someone else to cash it out into real assets. They don't need to shut down the entire Internet, they only need to filter or poison Bitcoin traffic.

The CCP isn't one guy. It's a whole lot of people scamming people out of money on a thousand fronts. One of the reasons Bitcoin is so volatile (besides being intrinsically unstable, but that's another subject) is price manipulation. Buy Bitcoin, trade Bitcoin back and forth among themselves (or even a single person), drive the price up, sell to fools at the top, then let the price collapse. Repeat and shake head at the fools who will never learn.
Fuck bitcoin. For one, it's controlled by China miners. For two, it's insanely volatile. The price has crashed multiple times.
And finally, speaking as a tech guy, don't think the tech industry in conjunction with government can't kill Bitcoin, because they can. Easily. If they decide to filter or poison the traffic, no more transactions, and no more Bitcoin. Bitcoin is completely dependent on the freeflow of Internet traffic. People should review the history of the Reform Party before they get too excited about this concept. The Reform Party came out of EXACTLY the same sentiments that the major parties had betrayed us.

How do you know you arent seeing what you want to see in your interpretations? How do you know you are only considering objective fact? You dont, so you rely on instinct, faith, etc as much as anyone else.
That's just silly. The way we know anything in life is by reviewing evidence, creating a conclusion, then constantly testing that conclusion against new evidence. That's the entire basis of the scientific method. It's the exact opposite of "faith".
Blind faith is trusting what someone says with no objective facts. Lin Wood might be right, but without evidence or any references at all that someone can verify, his statements are completely worthless. Literally worth nothing. That's not an indictment of Wood; just the nature of information. Objective facts are the only way to judge the truth of something.
Also note that "truth" isn't just "TRUE" or "FALSE". It's a spectrum of reliability based on the how much evidence and the quality of the evidence.

You know that and I know that, but there would not be nearly enough other people that would dump the Republicans to come to this third party. Keep in mind that "tens of millions of supporters" would be a disastrous failure. Taking 40% of the Republicans would be a disastrous failure. The only way to succeed would be to take 85% of the Republicans and 20% of the Democrats. That's just not happening.
And that's not even getting into choosing a platform. It's all fun and games until people start debating over what the platform should be, and with a blank slate to "fix the Republican mistakes", it will be a complete shitshow. That's exactly what happened with the Reform party.
Personally, I really hate a large number of Republicans in several wings, who I blame for 30% of the population being "Never Republicans", because we have our own brand of Authoritarianism, instead of embracing Freedom and Liberty. I don't want to debate it, but it's arguable that those people repelled so many people into never voting Republican that the Democrats have been able to do what they've done over the last 30-40 years.
Republicans just roll over and let them do whatever.
Hence why it needs to be taken back from the rats and run by Patriots. The Party doles out money to candidates. There is a LOT of power in that organization to bring the rats to heel.
