True communism is 100% voluntary and practiced in a limited sense within families, religious orders, etc. True communism is stateless (anarchy without chaos). It can never be successful in broad application, however.

Socialism is a coercive state that pretends that if everyone is forced to live as communists they will learn to love it and the state can then be dissolved. In reality, it is the oligarchy that maintains control and uses its dogma to get the upper and lower working class to fight one another as those in control live high on the hog.

I would maintain that socialism is much worse than communism.

Washington was awful as both President and a general, Teddy was even worse in his socialist ways, and although I love the mythical Lincoln, the real Lincoln was responsible for the death of 1 in 10 Americans and only proclaimed emancipation for areas not under his control. Replace at least Lincoln with Trump and Teddy with Reagan. Kenney was a mediocre President who was sleeping with a Danish spy and former girldfriend of Goering at the beginning of the war when in Naval Intelligence. His daddy kept him out of jail so that he could go on to lose a PT boat, lose Cuba and Berlin, backdown to the Soviets after the missile crisis and pull our missiles from Turkey, and then refuse advise from the Secret Service that could have saved his life. I don't rate him the worst President but certainly would not put him on Mt Rushmore. Calvin Coolidge would be a better choice.
