i tell my family that if they watch TV news we can't talk about most things because they won't understand me, and they won't believe that what I'm saying hasn't be pre-boonked as white supremacist propaganda
I ask simple question like "ever read a whole political poll to the end" or "did you know the FBI has all the crime statistics online and downloadable"
when this makes peoples eyes go wide I usually drop a line like "yeah I don't usually talk about that stuff because I don't watch TV so I never know what people are being told to over-react to and I don't want to offend them, like how Zimmerman was never going to be found guilty because there were no witnesses at all, and how george floyd asked to be on the ground because he knew he was tweaking out on all the drugs he did that day"
there could be 100 different parties represented and the actual business of government wouldn't be obstructed, they would still vote on rules and leadership and there would just be a lot more public debate
the way it works now is that every important decision is agreed to ahead of time behind closed doors before the new Senate is gaveled in, and as soon as they are in they start adopting the agreed upon paperwork for rules and leadership
the old way would be better, and mostly only serious people would have the stomach for it
I personally salute Ted Cruz for not pretending to be able to help fix power and water infrastructure
is every single congressman from Texas in their district? no one knows because no one actually gives shit
edit: heavy edit because I'm hammered
it'll definitely be a "white" supremacist terrorist, who happens to be Mexican and injun, using a combination of scary guns and with a duffel bag of magazines that hold 30 clips each, all things that are in bidens gungrab bill
I'm actually on Facebook's side with this one, until I hear information that changes my understanding of the Australian law in question
as it stands now it looks like Australian government is trying to make Facebook pay news agencies a cut of what Facebook makes from advertising, as conpensation for the amount of traffic they drive to Facebook
the problem is that the news agencies already have mechanisms by which to monetize their content, so unless Facebook is stealing and rehosting the content in a way that cut out the creators monetization then it looks like a shakedown and I'm glad they called the Aussie governments bluff
the analogy is like if porn websites told the ISPs that they have to profit share because porn drives more people onto the internet than anything else
I say all this with the caveat that it's very possible Facebook is stealing the content and rehosting it in a manner that gets them paid, and if that's true they should be sued for it, hit that doesn't appear to be the claim
everything you are afraid of could turn around tomorrow
you're reacting to what you think the outcomes are going to be and not to the current situation
I'm not saying you're 100% wrong, or even a little bit wrong... only time will tell
but im saying you're early and a little bit dramatic, and there are 100 things you could do to help push back if you were actually concerned and not just caught up in the fake drama
if you're buried in snow no food should be going bad
put a plastic bin almost sideways in the snow and cover it around the sides, make a giant ice ball and put it in there, put the lid on and cover it with snow or throw a tarp or something reflective over it to keep sun off
next time, I guess
good luck man
