Right. Well this is the greatest drop in the economy since “the Great Recession” so I can see why it’s important to push money into the economy. I’m not downplaying small businesses being devastated, I think we should be doing more for them, but I don’t see anything wrong with praising the stock market booming as it’s representative of people’s view on the economic recovery. Also our retirement plans are directly influenced by the stock market so I for one am loving to see a large increase.

But nobody said the stock market is the economy? Nobody said we don’t want to save small businesses either. We don’t need the stock market to tank AND small businesses to fail do we?

This isn’t true. The S&P 500 companies have been recording record sales which is leading to confidence in those businesses and ultimately our economy. There is still hesitation about this fall, but nothing about right now is artificial or incorrect.

Amazon Prime deleted the comments (or FB magically filtered them out). I went through all the comments and saw multiple people responding to Amazon prime’s response, but no actual response

They have probably the worst homeless problem in all of Texas. Once these tax dollars roll in, you’ll see homeless walking around in Lululemon shorts “because they deserve to enjoy the same luxuries that we do”

Of course not. Just as nobody can convince anyone that god doesn’t exist. I’ll tell you for me I did the whole teenager struggle with believing in god thing. But I always had that nagging gut feeling that god exists. Something I can’t explain. One day I was browsing through wikipedia of famous founding fathers of our country and the like. Some of the smartest people. I kept noticing something in common with almost all of them: deism. It all clicked after that. A god that set up and uses science and laws of nature. It didn’t have to be magic fairy tales or no god. There are other options.

We truly don’t even know so many things in our universe. Are there other universes? Is there other life? What’s at the end of the universe? I could go on and on. We can’t answer these questions, but people want to be so arrogant as to say there for sure is not a god. It’s ignorant at best. Of course these things don’t prove the existence of a god, but to be so arrogant and demeaning to others is dumb.

Oh he’s 100% suffering from mental illness. I’ve unfortunately continued to read about him for years since his “beef” with Eminem 10 years ago. He’s been declining more and more.

Like I said if you’re in the back there’s a very slim chance you make it on. Also, a defense attorney is very likely to strike retired military if you put that on your jury questionnaire. I think the belief is that retired military will tend to be pro-law enforcement and therefore drop the hammer on their client.

Lmao you’re really going to go on your high-horse and start using bigger words to make yourself at least somewhat stand a chance at being relevant in this argument while I’m typing on my phone in between sets in my workout. You really got me there. And word to the wise: some of the smartest, truly intelligent people I’ve ever met never needed to use large words to get their point across. If I really cared how I came across to you on a Donald trump forum, I’d make sure to drop all my fancy, Latin legal words. But rest assured I don’t.

Second, you’re a perfect example of theory (because you’ve never actually practiced) vs. reality. Do you realize if I took just every case I currently have pending to trial, I’d be in trial until 2025 with NO new cases. Spoiler alert: we get hundreds per day. Do you realize that every case may have 20+ witnesses to organize and force them to come to trial and schedule for every case? Have you ever had the victim of a case tell you they aren’t going to show up to trial or they’re scared and want to drop the charges or tell you they are going to lie on the witness stand despite video evidence? Have you ever had to prep a 5 year old to explain what it was like to feel her uncle’s dick in her vagina? Probably not. These things effect the strength of your case. That’s called “case evaluation” but you already know that because you know everything.

Third, to an actual substance of an argument because you realize you are not even JV in this conversation so you’ve resorted to name calling, but I’ll entertain it anyways. How fucking stupid and dense can you possibly be to say “Any plea deal where a lesser sentence is exchanged for a guilty plea is wrong.” I mean how truly fucking ignorant lol. And normally when I’m explaining these concepts to a victim or civilian witness I try to be a little more nice and understanding, but cmon we’re on the Internet. So I’ll sum it up real fast: THERE’S A REASON THERE IS A RANGE OF PUNISHMENT AND THE ABILITY TO ADD OR REMOVE ENHANCEMENTS. IT IS LITERALLY REQUIRED TO DO THE JOB. Again, you stupid mother fucker lol. You’re a one-dimensional thinker and an armchair attorney. I never talk down to people that don’t know and are genuinely curious because there’s thousands of things I don’t know as well and I wouldn’t expect anyone to know much about the law. But to be so fucking arrogant AND wrong is just humorous. You’re like the habitual felon in the jail cell with his face tattoos who’s telling his nationally recognized attorney what a good offer is and how the law works lmao. I’ve truly appreciated getting a reminder of how truly stupid the general public can be on the law, but since you clearly are arguing in bad faith I’ll end my responses here. Keep making the world a better place by repoing vehicles and posting online to get any type of meaning in your life 🤡 👌🏼 lol

Bud, you still haven’t answered the question I asked on the claim you made. Where is the blatant “abuse” you claim about plea deals?

You’ll likely respond (if at all because you’re playing the deflection game now) that I said I’d rather plea a drug case than go to trial on it and waste county resources. But then I cleared it up that the reason is I’d rather go to trial on the aggravated sexual assault of a child/murder/Arson/Aggravated Assault.

So what is your “abuse” you see oh wise one?

1
oEMPYREo 1 point ago +1 / -0

Lol the funny part is I could learn your job in about 3 hours and it’d take you about 3 years just to get to bare minimum competency at mine.

But hey as far as my performance what do juries, judges, victims, and the hundreds of attorneys I deal with know? Or all the police officers and detective that call me and ask for my opinion on the law for their guidance? They need to be listening to the repo man toting that HS diploma around! Lmao

oEMPYREo 1 point ago +1 / -0

And where is the “abuse” that I asked you to show me? Do you realize the plea deal usually helps everyone involved—including the victim?

And did you miss how many times we are in trial? Our courthouse alone (pre-COVID) probably would have around 50 trials per month. I’m not exactly sure what your criticism is. Do you want harsher punishments? Do you want less plea deals? Do you want more jury trials?

oEMPYREo 1 point ago +1 / -0

Lol “Rampant abuse of prosecutorial discretion”

And where exactly was this proven? You thought you had a slam dunk my making a baseless claim. Tell me again how many jury trials you have conducted? How many bench trials have you performed? I’m out here speaking to real juries and get real feedback from my community—you don’t.

Let me know how cutting a deal on a drug case that I feel is fair because I’d rather go to trial on an uncle that fucked his 3 year old niece so much that her vagina tore or the man that shot and killed a 10 year old’s father in front of her is “rampant abuse of prosecutorial discretion.”

You’ve likely stepped into a courthouse no more than 2 times in your entire life but feel qualified to make an outlandish claim like “rampant abuse of prosecutorial discretion” based off a hypothetical drug case I made up. Unfortunately ignorance combined with arrogance leads to people like you. People who haven’t even been to law school, haven’t passed the bar, haven’t made a legal argument in front of a judge or jury, have zero experience, have done zero case research, have dealt with zero victims, have dealt with zero defense attorneys, have not faced the sting of defeat in a courtroom, and have not felt the success of winning. But I’ll be damned if you don’t have a strong baseless opinion lol.

Again let me remind you that I do not care the opinion of an outsider on how I do my job. I care about the community as a whole, the victims, the judges, the juries, my bosses, defense attorneys, and defendants.

In my experience it’s about 50/50. I think there are a lot of people genuinely curious to hear the criminal case kind of like a tv show and want to see our system at work. Then there are people who understandably don’t want to miss work for multiple days and keep showing up to the courthouse. I get people begging to get on and I get people begging to be excused and most people don’t have a chance to speak up so I’m left with evaluating based on their body language and engagement.
