The primary Republican who betrayed McCarthy was Sen. Ralph Flanders of Vermont, who was (technically) a man.

An accomplice was the President of the Senate, Richard Nixon (also a man), Ike's VP, who delayed McCarthy in a Senate cloakroom just long enough to miss a crucial vote ensuring his censure.

Stormfags who try to chase women, blacks, jews, etc. out of the MAGA movement are fighting to stop Americans from uniting to MAGA, via the old commie tactic of 'divide and conquer.'

Don't be suckered.

I was one of those sounding the klaxon, as one crying in the wilderness of commies, hippies, and proto-NPCs who thought I was crazy or didn't know what I was talking about. If you think being anticommunist is tough today, imagine being an anticommunist boomer back in the day.

There were only three TV networks (and then PBS), all of whom simply regurgitated whatever the NYT or WaPo said. The only political talk radio was NPR. The only way conservatives could get a word in edgewise was to pay for airtime -- and even then, the "Fairness" Doctrine required "equal time" for the left, FOR FREE, as if their total dominance of the media was not enough. It was a nightmare.

Conservative media consisted of Allan Ryskind's Human Events, then William F. Buckley's National Review, and then R. Emmett Tyrrell's American Spectator -- and that was it. These outlets for sane writing in the maelstrom of insanity were like drops of water to a man dying of thirst in the middle of the Sahara.

Then, by some miracle (literally divine mercy, I am convinced) we got Margaret Thatcher in 1976, Pope John Paul II in 1978, and Ronald Reagan in 1980. Reagan ended the Fairness Doctrine, creating space for Rush Limbaugh and others. Then came the Internet, allowing people who actually knew shit to bypass the gatekeepers.

That all came to a screeching halt with the advent of social media, of course (but that's another story), and here we are.

Beck was vilified by GOPe and Conservative, Inc. because he actually read Blacklisted by History and was first to publicize its findings.

Take my word for it, plumbers can make a very comfortable living. Day laborers, not so much. They have to compete with illegal aliens.

They can be innovative and profitable. Yes, I have a solution: stop the government from creating artificial shortages via FDA and prescription requirements, etc
