If your state and your community do not have mask ordinances you can challenge the board -- give them a world of shit; put their feet to the flame and ask them why they insist on a mask rule when your local and state don't. Is it because they don't want people showing up at their board meetings? (trust me, they do not want people showing up at their board meetings -- I haven't seen a school or town board yet that wants that) ;)
Yes.
*caveat: schools are considered primarily under the jurisdiction of the local gov't. and county or the region....so, if your local gov't. has a mask rule, then it can be followed and/or if your local school board declared a mask rule, then it can be followed (many places still have those rules on the books, perhaps conveniently forgot to take them down; you may have to remind the local school board that they have to dismiss their mask rules)
Since I've doused your morning, I'll reply with one bright(ish?) note: with what appears to be coming down the tracks, economically/societally, we're all (including these fuckstick commies) going to have our hands full coping with that -- I don't think there's going to be enough energy for them and goodwill towards them to get a lot of their shit passed...hopefully.
Either that or big bro will get to push through everything they want, and hell comes in on a handbasket, so it won't really matter.
To be honest, at this point, I'm not sure it can be -- I've been harping on this for 20 flipping years, never got anywhere, and there, for a brief shining moment 4 years ago, it looked like there might be enough broad range momentum to curb the tide. Now, I don't know. I think trying to stop it is now a bit too little, too late, and too misdirected.
PS. and I'm really going to shit on everyone's parade: the state/federal departments of education not only set the curriculum; they select the texts and products...including what you can find online (for all the homeschoolers out there; be careful!), including private/charter schools -- who do you think accredits them?
The problem is that there are parents who are quite cool with this -- so they send their kids to progressive private schools and they get involved in the local public school boards and pta and push for all of this shit because you know, they care so much. And they're backed by state and federal gov. if not local (although sometimes all three), as well as all the "non-partisan" local political apparatus (which are all connected to state and national very political apparatus). And then when shit does happen, the people don't go after them...they go after the teachers and school administration, which can be a really mixed bag -- not everybody working there likes the progressives, but... (as a former one, I did throw in the towel...to be conservative and teacher is to stick one's neck out...and still get shit on by your own "side" -- I do rather understand other groups in this regard, like cops).
If you have kids -- really check out your kids' schools (some public ones are still better than some charter); and if you home school better check what's allowed (yes, allowed -- it's not going to last for long). Go underground (my kids' reading lists at home are a lot more diverse and advanced than what the school provides, always has been, and we're in a pretty good district -- we made sure of that).
None, but in the meantime he's sure going to put us peasants through hell in order to accumulate it.
Nah, first they push to have it declared within the Standard of Education, then they push to have it enforced on other districts. They try to roll it out in private schools who will be willing to take it on (usually with high performing classes...to make it look like it really super duper works). Then, they turn around and sell it to the state board. They know they can't get it any other way. Then the local progressive groups try to get their guys and gals on local boards of education; they get to sound fancy by stating the stats from those private, high performing schools...impress the hoi polloi as it were...and really drive it home (the state board of education sets the curriculum and guidelines, but especially outside of the cities there isn't much enforcement -- that's where the local school board comes in, as well as the Karens from the local progressive groups who look and live to stir up trouble).
*teacher -- you might call me a veteran of the education wars (which we've pretty much lost); have been to the conferences; have been to the school board and regional board meetings
This right here.
The mayors and governors said "no" when President Trump offered. "People need to feel safe to riot." -- remember?
Sheep who play with wolves tend to get ate.
Unfortunately no. These were the folks Trump was trying to get out of our military...they've been let back in. My two kids still in (one of which was career military) are now lining up their lives to get out asap -- and they aren't political, so there's your sign.
He cares about his own people -- the illegals are going through his country, the cartels operate in his country, and he had a pretty sweet deal with Trump that would have helped his country a lot. I don't blame him for being pissed.
Yes -- it was always going to be a mix of Orwell and Huxley with a little Bradbury (Fahrenheit 451 was a seminal book of my high school experience).
Except for the dignity and common worth of the parents who send their kids to your school -- Mom and Dad are cancelled...but still have to pay the tuition.
Not so much the schools, but who is writing up the education guidelines. But you are correct; they can't roll this out successfully outside of certain areas -- there would be blowback from most parents and sabotage from the schools (they just wouldn't do it).
On one hand, this is good -- not every district has lost its mind; on the other, it is bad -- there are quite a lot of sane districts left, so when people hear this and then don't see it happening where they live, they have a hard time believing it (and then don't push back...and it's hard to push back when nobody is doing it in your area; can't accuse people of doing shit they don't do).
They're already working on that. However, it is good to understand that what gets said by twitterers and academic/bureaucratic conferences, the little bubble worlds, isn't necessarily what the street is actually living. There is a growing and very wide swath of everyday people who are getting sick of their shit -- because it's completely nonsensical bullshit that they're pushing people to not only accept but engage in and call right and good.
Some dumb shits will fall for it, mostly in an attempt to appear cool, hip, and enlightened. Others will allow it because they want to appear nice no matter the cost. But the cracks are beginning to show -- most people are not going for this.
I'm just reporting what the plan is; I refuse to make predictions because I'm not a fortune teller.
The year you'll own nothing and be happy.
Hey, two can play a game...they don't like it...tough. Our statement now.
The poster has a good point.
My body, my choice.
That's not right...Pepe never did anything wrong. Everybody sniffed Pepe; Pepe never did the sniffing.
I do not care about these trifling people.
Brits/Commonwealth people can care if they want to, but I'm sick and tired of hearing about nobility that we fought a war to get rid of because basically they were being dicks to us.
Chump married the bitch; bitch married into the chump's family (who ran interference for Prince Andy, let's not forget that) -- they can have fun with each other. Knock yourselves out mofos!
We've got our own shit to deal with, and quite frankly, I think this is all a put up -- until they start naming names (and maybe get Andy to testify to what the fuck he knows), then their merry way they need to go; it's all to get eyes on this shit...possibly take the heat off of some other scandalous shit they've been up to.
Ok, I get where you're going with this. Most golem stories wind up with the golem running amok...which kind of ties into the ideas of bad idea to play God and that it eventually comes back to bite you in the ass.
Which...if you think about it...is what most utopia stories say as well.
I don't know about the golem angle, but the ideas of "heaven on earth" and mysticism are definitely important parts of this (and lead to eugenics and all other manner of evil that has plagued us).
Utopia is no such place. Thomas Moore's book was supposed to be read as satire all the way through.
They leave out a lot of shit -- if I started going over everything that gets left out, I'd be here all day listing it. Right now, I'd just be happy if the motherfuckers would not leave out basic fucking grammar (and now, basic fucking math). It's all on purpose too...it gives politically connected "educators" a fucking job (that's all this is, a cash grab by people who couldn't really teach in an actual classroom: so they come up with ways to keep the coins in their pockets and make more). They learn real quick who's dick they need to suck, whose agenda they need to push in order to make that money.
But...on a brighter note: people are starting to get tired of this shit; I think they might have gone too far too fast. Donald Trump isn't going away (at least what he started people thinking), and they're having a hard time with that.
