My wife and I went. It was an encouraging, positive experience. We left right before the "storming" of the Capitol because my wife didn't feel well, and we thought that with each objection allowing for two hours of debate, that the certification process would go on into the next day. Some may criticize us for "bailing early," but we felt that having been there as part of the big crowd, we contributed to the massive presence which was supposed to send a message.
I was hoping that Trump would invoke the Insurrection Act, declare martial law, or my ultimate fantasy come true (see my post history) do an autogolpe (self-coup), take out Congress, and rule by decree. Yeah, I love the ideals of the Founding Fathers and the Republic, but that ship sailed awhile ago IMO.
My wife, on the other hand, is more of a "normie," and while she loves GEOTUS, her hopes were for Congress to at least debate and "normalize" questioning the narrative and exposing fraud, whether or not Trump would be President again on January 20.
The leftist reaction--while predictable--is still sad, to be honest. We sang "I'm Proud to Be an American" and other songs. We smiled, laughed, cheered, and stood together. It was such an uplifting and positive event. Leftists really miss out on this. It's their fault, and I don't make excuses for them, but their brainwashing and conditioning is so negative...the raging, the screeching, the anger, the violent outbursts--meanwhile, we express our feelings with so much camaraderie and such a POSITIVE spirit.
The difference is just worlds apart. And I truly feel bad for the leftists who only have anger, although I don't excuse their behavior. I pity them, I pray for them, but they must be held accountable unless they repent. Yes, I am deliberately using religious language, because we're at the point of "right vs. wrong" here, no longer in the domain of "valid opinions freely expressed."
Back in the '90s, there was a guy who would go to DC near Watergate most Saturdays and hold up a sign with two sides, which he would flip back and forth at the stoplight while cars were waiting to turn:

I don't trust Lin Wood, but I will say that two things can both be true at the same time:
- Pence is Trump's most loyal follower
- Pence is considering whether to support Trump tomorrow
We humans are complicated people. We have mixed motives. We question our own judgment half of the time. Add in the pressure from all sides, the threats.
Pence is old school. Thinks we have to follow the Constitution no matter what. Problem with that, is if the wrong person gets to him, he might think he is being dutiful by supporting the "certified" votes being counted.
Who knows at this point?

I made this argument 10 years ago during the Tea Party and Occupy Wall Street surges to a friend of mine who was an actual member of the Democratic Socialists of America Party.
Basically, TP patriots and DSA folks should unite on a few core shared ideals, as a temporary truce, to achieve certain goals:
- End free trade
- End corporate bailouts
- Audit the Fed
- Investigate the Wall Street to Government loop
- Implement campaign finance reform
- Regulate social media companies
- Protect workers' rights.
Naturally, after accomplishing these shared goals, we would end up fighting each other over other stuff, but perhaps with the common enemies out of the way, it would be less bloody and more productive.
Interestingly, my friend has since left the DSA and while not in any way pro-Trump, believes things that we believe without labeling it economic nationalism. Give him 5 more years...
