Forgiving debt would infuriate me and many, many people who either
a) responsibly chose to NOT take out a loan to go to college when repayment of that loan was questionable and other financial alternatives were more appealing (there ARE still alternatives, despite the government artificially destroying them as fast as it can)
b) responsibly could afford to pay for college and paid tuition in full without a loan for a degree
c) took out a loan and studied hard for a good marketable degree, and then paid off that loan in full
These entitled brats that borrowed six figures for an environmental science, marine biology, journalism, political science, or women's studies degree. With no hope of ever paying it back. What gives them the right to make these decisions without having to suffer the same consequences anyone else would have had to or did suffer when making the exact same choice? Its absurd and infuriating. If I knew the government was going to throw $50,000 at me and all I had to do was whine about the debt that I got myself into, I would have made completely different choices in life.
Honestly this issue pisses me off more than Biden being a racist Chinese agent that will destroy our economy and hike gas prices to $10 a gallon and send us to war. Simply because of the level of entitlement and brattiness of those asking for it.
I suppose these are "reqsonable" compared to blanket forgiveness, and I particularly like number 4 as it puts risk back on the lender and will force lenders to be more careful about lending (only lend for stem degrees in the future?) Biden will never do this, his administration is incredibly pro-wal street and will never do anything that could let lenders harm themselves, and he arguably has a vested interest in destroying American society.
But the real solution is to let those in debt suffer and promote trade schools, stop murdering our middle and lower class, and stop pushing to stupid idea that college should be for everyone. This is an anti-capitalist notion that is designed to eliminate job market diversity (give everyone the same training and education while at the same time eliminating jobs which require alternative non-college training) and impoverish people operating in a psuedo-capitalist (corporatist) system, thereby destroying the US economy and encouraging those that are suffering the most to push to replace that economy with a controlled (socialist) version.
In an actual free market, one that isn't run by beaurocratic red tape or socialist economic manipulation, any individual, regardless of their level of education or ability, can find a way to provide value to society and be compensated for that value handsomely. Its damn hard to do that when the government steps in and changes tax codes, creates subsidies for your competitors, massive beaurocratoc barriers to entry with expensive and time consuming permitting processes, or just straight up outlaws your industry.
Vaping is a great example of a revolutionary free market industry that had the capacity to save millions of lives by providing a safe(er) alternative to smoking. The industry sprung out of the ground and was created by individuals without huge corporate financing or government subsidies, and filled a demand in the market allowing many people to be employed and make a living. Then the government - media corporatists stepped in and squashed it with heavy regulations to protect big tobacco, putting people out of work and making this wonderful technology and safer alternative to smoking pricey and difficult for the average consumer to obtain. The government did not like those people making money without college degrees and without the feds getting their cut.
