FWIW, I'm pretty much 98% off Google except for YouTube, and leaving the email open for a couple of the bug brother apps, but honestly that's becoming less and less with more censorship and my favorite YouTube channels migrating to rumble and LBRY

I had a whole long story I was going to submit about this. Waking up to “the madman did it!” posts (back before T_D was nerfed from getting to the best of /all), was what got me on the Trump train. I went into work everyone basically hungover and looked like they had been crying for hours made me look into what was so bad about this guy. I had always been a-political before.
Anyway, I was an after berner, which is hilarious because I don’t really support any of his policies. I just thought he sucked less or of the 3 candidates at the time based off what the news was showing me. So happy that “she’s gonna win 98% chance” bullshit got me to take the red pill, fully. Before I was half and half. Mostly like man o sphere bullshit. I no longer trust anything

I stayed out of it because this discussion board can get moody sometimes. But pence was OG swamp. And people called anyone who tried to let this board know “doomers.” I finally saw an apology post and a lot of others came forward also apologizing. I hope we learned our lesson to stop calling everyone a doomer bitch for trying to help others see the truth that relying on pence was never going to work. No this was definitely known. Many people tried to warn this sub about pence being swamp. And I would see commenters attack people posting against pence. It was sad to see. Lol no I’m a windows server administrator so at lot of my tasks are more admin focused. everything you’re listing is sensationalized in my opinion. I haven’t seen anyone affected the way you’re describing in my 10+ years of admin experience. When I first got out of college I saw a bunch of people fall for the crypto wall bullshit. Also after the latest halving event, participation in the blockchain significantly dropped. Soon, there will be just a few players left, and they could just strong arm the blockchain. The concept is cool I just don’t see it being a reliable source if it’s already not being used as intended.
I couldn’t find any articles of aol or yahoo serving malware. I did see a forum post about nyt’s ad system being hi jacked. You don’t need an antivirus program to block an ad based attack. If the yahoo malware is the classic yahoo search engine swap that’s also extremely easy to avoid. AV software is still pointless. Ublock origin, no script, https everywhere, and containers are 4 extensions that get you 85-90% of the way there. Retraining internet habits is the rest.
Chances are, if you are falling victim to a newly discover ad based malware, then Microsoft, or any AVcompany for that matter, have not had time to patch an updated definition list anyway. So you Would still fall victim to the attack
If it makes people mentally feel better, like masks, then fine more power to them. My company’s laptop uses cylance, and the only time it flags anything is when I download an exe. Which is wild because I know it’s a legitimate. I have not had any notifications that I’ve contracted malware on my laptop
At least you understand the potential I think if implemented correctly (like you said open source blockchain source code) I think the process could be digital.
