Never heard of a chad being afraid of a small poke in the arm. The way I see it is that it's a race for all countries to get back to 100%. Countries that beat the virus will prosper, and I hope that is USA.
My understanding is that they did things in parallel (not skip them). E.g. they started mass manufacturing the vaccine before they got approval.
Trump and Pence say it is safe and effective. I don't think they have any direct money to gain from it. Sure, their businesses, like most others, will do better once the world returns back to 100% (thanks to people taking the vaccine)... but that is a really indirect benefit.

It hasn't been tested on everyone yet -- e.g. pregnant women or kids. Also, it doesn't protect immunosuppressed people as well. So, best case scenario is if we beat the virus. Virus infects everyone, pedes and non-pedes.
