A friend of mine, who has relatives in Australia, told me about it. It's crazy. There are countries where you get tested and you only have to quarantine until you get your negative test. Australia goes about it like a third-world country. I think there's much more to it than just Covid-craziness.

Well, it's sort of like what happens with local elections in the US. Nobody pays attention until somebody wins who nobody likes. Then everybody loses their mind. The AfD guy did his homework, and the others didn't. The AfD presents itself as an alternative to the established parties, but it took ages for them actually to put up a party program. In the end, the AfD politicians cave under pressure like most politicians.
I always make the joke, "Once Tucker Carlson ridicules something the left does on his show, it will hit us about six months later". That's basically it. The big problem that I see here in Germany (but generally in Europe) is the monolithic nature of politics. There is no debate between left and right. There is only the left. US politics can be a nice contrast to EU politics. Once I dove deeper into US politics, it got much clearer how messed up some ideas and concepts are that aren't really questioned over here. It really exposes how much the media is lying to us and how much Anti-Americanism is present.
I'm not an American, but I would gladly donate money if some people want to leave.
