German pede here. The story appears to be correct, but the original article is behind a paywall, so I can't verify everything. I know this area very well. My grandparents lived nearby for a long time. The guy rented a big flat for not a lot of money (149 square meters, 500€ (about 600$); rents for similar flats there are 3 times as much) from the local municipality. They exploited a law which says that owners can cancel the lease agreement with 9 months grace period if the flat is to be used by the owner or relatives. They most likely had bad legal advice and no funds to fight this. A lot of politicians in that area proposed laws to expropriate owners of flats and houses if they are empty to house refugees. The same politicians are surprised about the rise of a prominent right-wing party.

I'm from Germany. It is not shocking. Correspondents from other countries are mostly based in D.C., NYC, LA, or San Francisco. This is where other countries get their news about the US. This study of the PRC is a prime example of media bias and how great its effect can be.

Usually, there are some other issues why this leads to heart attacks. That's why it's hard to quantify the number of cases, just like with the china virus. And this is why it's used politically, just like the china virus.

Noise pollution can increase the levels of stress and lead to heart attacks. It sounds weird but it has an effect. But I doubt it's possible to quantify how many people are dying from this.
I just wonder how credible these reports/studies are. Those are created by leftists and used by leftists to calculate how much fossil-fired power-plants and airplanes are subsidized because of the lives lost and then argue to fund Green Energy even more. If it's a report by an EU entity, it's likely BS.
