I'm a cog at a large corporation and the reason it seems this way is because these large multi-nationals are like 50k times the size of a normal company. My department produces enough software, revenue and profit to be considered a decent sized successful tech company. And we're only one department among thousands, in a non-tech business.
I'm a lead developer. At a startup, there are typically 3 layers of management above me- department head, CTO, CEO. Here, there are 4-5 managers above me before you get to the top of our business unit and then another half dozen at least until you get near the C levels. I interact with maybe a dozen people on a daily basis. I almost never interact with the managers 2-3 levels above me and I never see people 4-5 levels above me.
There's a department somewhere that constantly sends out emails and puts on events about diversity. I have no idea where they are located. I have never met one of them or personally been contacted by them. Compared to the billions of dollars in revenue we make, the cost of the diversity and bullshit department is probably minuscule. They just hire a bunch of URMs with gender studies degrees and pay them to be mildly annoying internally but mainly to act like a super visible hood ornament for the company showing off how woke they are. It's just for show. The day to day business of the company is completely disconnected from the woke bullshit.
I think the C levels feel way more comfortable having people talk about fake issues like systemic racism and gender pronouns than they would feel if people started talking about real issues like exploitation of indian visa workers or cheating long term workers out of their pensions.

Even though this problem is largely confined to the black community, it isn't evenly distributed within the black community. It's more like a problem where you have to be black, be in certain big cities, be in certain neighborhoods of those cities and you have to be a certain kind of trashy. Even if you're black and living in those neighborhoods, avoiding this sort of bullshit is not super hard. Of course, moving out of these areas helps even more.
There was a study (yale, harvard?) where they found that being arrested alongside a gang member in chicago made it like 90 times more likely you would get shot than if you weren't connected to a gang. My criminal justice experience showed me that even in shitty neighborhoods, the vast majority of people you run across are just bystanders trying to work jobs and pay rent and avoid trouble. What's odd is that the vast majority of black people have very conservative attitudes towards morality and law and order. They would love for the cops to clamp down on crime and wouldn't see it as racist.
Read up on the kibbutz movement in israel. They deeply believed in collectivism and even they couldn't get around basic market forces.
All collectivist societies fail because:
- not everyone has equal capacity to perform work of a given value. For example, a hardworking ditchdigger produces less value than a lazy programmer. Likewise, a hardworking and skilled programmer produces more value than a lazy or incompetent one.
- collectivist societies undercompensate people with lots of productive capacity and overcompensate people with low productive capacity. So all such systems inevitably encourage and attract low value members and chase away high value members.
- Since this would quickly cause the system to devolve into a mass of useless cunts, they must use force to prevent the high value people from leaving. And they must use force to encourage the low value people to not mooch.
- but the low value people will only work hard enough to avoid a beating
