Every advertisement has a black person in it or is all black people. Every couple in ads is at least one black person. Almost every major website has something about being black at the top. It’s like black people are now 100% of the US population. Sorry Asians, go to the back of the bus.
Many of you have probably seen my posts about my struggles working for a health department and also being a dj with a business currently being forced to sit idle as our mayor declared karaoke/live music the absolute worst thing on earth.
The mayor has refused to work with me as well as all of city council. Our health officer was fired and replaced with the mayors buddy. So now they guy ruining my life has taken over my department by proxy.
About two weeks ago, I caught wind that a local bar owner was able to work out a deal with the city so they could have karaoke and bands again. Now, the right thing at this point for the city to do would have been amending the executive order and make it ok for all bars to have live music and karaoke. At the very least, they could have let them all know it would be ok. Nope, they allowed the bar owner to install some sheets of plexiglass and had the fire Marshall and building inspector check it out and make sure it was “safe”. When I saw that the bar was advertising a band on the 13th, I became infuriated that I’m still sitting here losing hundreds of dollars a week.
On friday, I went to the bar that I ran karaoke at to have some drinks. I talked to the owner and he decided that if the city is going to let another bar have music and karaoke, we should be able to. He gave me the go-ahead to construct a few barriers and start up on the 13th. I ran to menards yesterday and grabbed $500 worth of plexiglass and wood. Finished the dividers last night which will basically make a room within the bar to sing in. I also order a UVC light to place above the room that will kill all bacteria and viruses without causing damage to skin or eyes.
The kicker to this is that we do not have permission from the city, but I went above and beyond what the other bar did that got approved. I’ll be excited when the city nazis come in next Saturday to shut us down only to realize our system is better than the bar that they approved. You see, the whole point of the karaoke ban was to fuck the owner of the bar I work at. He is a city councilman and votes against the mayors commie shit all the time. Therefore, the mayor banned his money making activities at the bar to directly screw him. They’re either going to shut us down because we didn’t get approval, then have us blast on social media how they allowed another bar with less safe features operate; or, they’ll let us keep going and we defeated the commie mayor and his crony bullshit. Got the popcorn ready.
Someone posted it around a year ago and I never saved the link. It made a lot of sense as it is something I’ve always wondered why we ignore the fact cities are much hotter than the surrounding areas and can affect the weather.
My job is a very accurate indicator of the economy. When I started in 2016, every winter before I was there was excruciatingly slow. This proved true for my first winter of 2016/2017. No phone calls, no well permits, no septic permits. Just silence and time to work on training and improvements. 2017/2018 was a little busier. 2018/2019 and 2019/2020 winters were absolute hell for me. It was just like the summer so I had not time to play catch-up on paperwork or attend many trainings or meetings. Constant floods of phone calls and people coming into my office wanting to build a house or upgrade their existing home. This stayed true even up to Inauguration Day. Then, the last week has been slowing down to the point that so far Monday and Tuesday, I’ve had zero phone calls, no emails, nothing. Like a fucking light switch the building stopped. And the economy didn’t even tank, interest rates didn’t go up. It just happened like someone turned off the lights. The crash is happening, remember this post when the effects are finally big enough to be seen.
