US used to do the same. Judges gave guys a choice between jail or army. Might soon be that way again.

I think a similar reckoning is coming for the aircraft carrier as we have known it. Although there has to be some kind of seagoing vehicle to carry the drones in the navy of the future. But the carriers we have known aren't good for much anymore besides bombing goatherders.

I knew one good one, decades ago. Let her get away. She married some other guy, had kids, still married. Every other woman I was ever involved with, I don't regret that it didn't work out. So my personal sample says about 1 in 30 or so was worth keeping. And that's pretty much all from older Gen X women. Haven't been dating millenials or zoomers, I assume that's worse.

I've known a handful of others who seemed as if they would make good mates, but they were married to other guys, so I couldn't say first hand.

it would be helpful to know when these pics were taken, and if he wasn't smiling in one of them

Corollated: There's no such thing anymore as a peaceful protest from the left either. But without the agents provocateur

a good rule I've learned that only solidifies with time:

run in the opposite direction from anybody who touts their own honesty and integrity

At some point the kids are supposed to be rebellious, or at least that was what we used to think. But this isn't showing up with the zoomers.

When parents are saying one thing and the idiot box another, the kids tend to side with the idiot box. But when both parents and the idiot box are saying the same thing, evidently the zoomers believe it.

Either way, you expect them to wise up in adulthood, but the millenials are not showing much sign.

So by the time we do get an actual rebellious generation there will not be anything left to save. There already isn't really. Whatever comes next will not be what was before.

It's going to be hard to find a lot of resistance to making the depositors whole. That is after all what the FDIC was created for, in spirit anyway, if not in letter.

So I think that's what they will do, and at the same time make a big show out of how they refused to bail out the bank itself, allowing them to talk solemnly about moral hazard and free markets etc.

There are too many friends of the regime who banked there for them to ignore them

No depositors are going to lose anything on this. The regime will make them all whole. Meanwhile, it will refuse to bail out the bank itself, which will allow it to talk tough about moral hazard or free markets or whatever.

The ubiquity of msm messaging means you'll hear about whatever the Current Thing is regardless. But if you don't consume it, if you aren't immersed in it, then you are able to see it for the propaganda that it is.

I believe I probably wasn't mentally free of regime media until a good 5 or 10 years after I had mostly quit watching it. By which time I realized it was better not to watch it at all.

Merely avoiding TV news I think is good enough to liberate yourself from it. That's where the propaganda is strongest. Propaganda is a lot more obvious in print. To where you notice it even when you weren't looking for it.

Then once you figure out how much they lie, which is constantly, you won't want to watch any of it, because who wants to volunteer to be lied to

You and I are also susceptible. The only way to "win" is not to expose yourself to their propaganda

3
rebelde_sin_causa 3 points ago +3 / -0

No they won't bail out the bank, or the shareholders. That will allow them to talk tough about moral hazard and free markets while they make all depositors whole regardless of how much more than 250k they had in there

Another big tell, besides the usual bellwether county type stuff......

When a president wins election, his main campaign strategist becomes a celebrity, an oracle. Gets lots of press for the whole presidential term. For Bush it was Rove. For Obama it was Axelrod. For Trump it was Bannon and Conway.

For Biden, who set a record with 81 million votes....... it's nobody. You'd think somebody would want to claim the credit for that huge number. You'd think the msm would be feting them left and right. You'd think this person would be a hero to the Democrat party. But we don't even know who it is.
