I've never in my life (and I'm not young) heard a former president chime in about a later president's SCOTUS picks or how or when he should make them

If it has to go to SCOTUS that will do nothing to give a mandate to the winner

Since everybody is convinced it's going to be awful one way or the other, I am inclined to think things won't be as bad as people expect
