Trump was always smart about sending out subtle "feelers" into the rumor mills to gauge the reaction of the people. If there's a lot of interest and support for the idea, he'll come out officially on it. If there isn't, then he lets it die a painless death.

Oprah sent out feelers to see if it would be good for her to run in '16 and that got laughed out of the headlines real fucking quick, so she didn't bother. I would like to bet that that worm Paul Ryan did the same thing in '16 when it looked like the swamp wasn't going to maintain the GOP-side of the uniparty nominations, which also was dismissed.
