To give a perspective from inside the NYC area, the local news (not the national news) on WABC, WCBS, WNBC, etc is FAR worse than the dreck they pump out to the rest of the nation.

Linux is the answer.

I used Windows as my primary OS until early last year, but stopped once using XP was no longer practical and 7 EOL'd. I refuse to install Windows 10 for a multitude of reasons including: the in-place upgrade every couple months that you can't disable, resetting of draconian privacy settings during said upgrades, the "metro" replacements of the start menu and included utilities, and the lack of a "classic theme" that disables all the unnecessary bells-and-whistles.

Since Linux is so customizable, I was able to set up an almost-exact recreation of the Windows 2000/XP "classic" desktop environment. Therefore, I can retain my old workflow while still keeping the system and all its software up to date. It has been a side project for me for a while, and I intend to publish the results online when it's done. Of course, this is only one of many options you have with Linux. I've seen close recreations of classic Mac OS, OS X, NeXTSTEP, CDE and AmigaOS to name a few, and there are a plethora of original desktop environments.

Edit: I might add... my PC specs... 2x Xeon E5-2670 (8 cores each), 32 (soon to be 48) GB of RAM, GTX 970ti (I don't game), and at one time Windows XP x64 ;) I still do have 7 installed for certain things that I can't do in a VM.

This. I do not like the budget, not by a longshot. But if it was a deal to give them their money in exchange for exposure of the fraud, I'm OK with it.

Hell, even in WWII the soldiers were given little morale-boosters here and there.

The Looney Tunes people over at W-B made a series of cartoons called "Private SNAFU" for the government to show to the soldiers. They were a humorous and educational take on what not to do.

Wireless anything is insecure. There are ways to make it more difficult or near impossible to intercept communications, but wired connections will always be more secure.

Manhattan is so sad now. I was in the general area the other day, and decided to take a quick drive through the city to look around. All the way down 5th Ave, there was practically nobody out, even near popular places like Trump Tower and the Rock Ctr. Tree. Traffic was very light, with a quarter of the usual amount of cabs driving. I have been in the city at 3 or 4 AM many times, there were always more people out than this time, at 9:30 PM 2 weeks before Christmas. It blows the mind that this was possible in less than a year.

I think this is a LARP, but FWIW, it does pass foto forensics.

This case came out of the blue earlier this week. We're in the same spot we were in on Sunday. The 12/14 date is a target date, but not the final date. The only constitutionally mandated date is 1/20.

Yes, and no. Countries have used spies to try to take down their enemies for all of history. In light of the Swallwell and Hunter incidents, on top of all we already knew, I put the blame 100% on the politicians that so easily cower/sell out to the Chinese, etc. China wouldn't be able to do a fraction of the shit they do if our politicians didn't let them.
