The only feasible reason I can think of for these measures is because it's their last avenue of defense. Which means they're trying to preempt something big. Damage control in advance.
There is absolutely no doubt that the earnings call for Q1 at Twitter is going to be pretty damn interesting to listen to. I want to hear how many accounts and daily active users they're going to lose as this thing progresses. They will feel the absence. I live in Michigan which is a voter ID state. I'm not sure if it's my county, or statewide, but there's a box on our ballot application that you fill out prior to in person voting, and it's essentially an affidavit check box. So that if you forget your ID, as long as you just really insist you are who you say you are, they'll let you vote. Wouldn't be surprising to see a ton of those on these sketchy votes.
