here's my problem with the mask arguments i see on here a lot. everyone seems to take an all or nothing approach, "if they work then what is the problem if you're wearing one and i am not?"
i think that is crap, because i think it's fair to say they do reduce the spread insomuch that they undoubtedly reduce say, particle spray from talking etc.
my problem with them lies in that i simply do not think the threat that they are mitigating is even remotely large enough to warrant any sort of mandate requiring one. it's not such a threat as to compel me to do anything, not that masks are not on some level effective. but they're clearly not 100% effective.

i've had this downloaded for some time now and they were actually pretty cool with it. as far as i can tell, they didn't edit anything, but put up a disclaimer before the really offensive ones saying something along the lines of, "this has some stuff that is pretty goddamn insensitive, but that was common for the time, so instead of pretending it didn't happen, we think it's important to leave in to show how much society has progressed."

I was an engineer at mindgeek (parent of porn hub), here in Montreal. I see a lot of things kicking around about the place and most of it is complete bullshit. That being said, I left the company because I have ethical qualms with porn; working there is very very sleazy. However, I never felt it was illegal sleaze. While true, I not aware of any age verification system, I do know they have eyes on every video before it gets posted. There were people on my floor who just watched porn on fast forward all day and I'm not really sure what that does to sometime psychologically, but it's a sight to behold. Anyway, I dislike the company, but not so much that I'll ignore what, to the best of my knowledge, are falsehoods. They're pretty quick with the takedowns, and while I'm sure there are aberrations, if you think about it a moment, the sheer volume of content they have (we're taking petabytes, though I forget the exact number. The figure in the video is low) and the legal ramifications of not taking something down, such as child porn, you'll come to the conclusion that it's easier to take a video down. What's one video? What's one thousand? A drop in the bucket.

So here's my take, as someone who probably knows more about them than anyone here: they're damn sleazy. Real fucking goddamn sleazy. But as far as illegal things are concerned, I think two things: there will always be exceptions; a 100% success rate is impossible at that volume. And they err on the side of caution with takedowns. It really doesn't hurt their bottom line to do so, when scandal would hurt their image far more.

It's not a good company. I'm not singing praises, I just dislike bullshit being spread. As for the specific cases mentioned in the video, I've not heard of them specifically. But I also don't think porn hub is the cause of the acts filmed. All in all, the whole scene is gross and I walked away, but I never once got the impression they were evil or such.
