The Senate is the problem. they serve 6 years because they are meant to represent the interests of the elected State government at the federal level while the representatives provide direct representation to the people of their district. They have elections every two years because that would provide the opportunity to the people of a district to vote out a POS every 2 years. Whereas the Senate terms were set at 6 years because they were appointed by the Governors of the States and approved by the State legislature. the 6 years was because the served at the pleasure of the Governors and the state legislatures and it provided opportunity for every state Governor to appoint at least 1 senator during a 4 year term. when they passed the 17th it took the elected State governments out of the balance of power equation established by our wise founders. now the states are little more than districts of the Fed because they have ZERO say in the fed government. But the senators still only have to run for election every 6 years and they have Vast amounts of power and responsibilities (which were supposed to be jealously protected by State interests..) This is like if we had a national election for an Ambassador to the UN and then that Ambassador votes on things that bind us without having to answer at all to the President or congress. People like Lynsey graham do what ever the fuck they want without any concern except their own for 4 years, and then two years before their election they start with the rhetoric and the showboating till they win the election and they get another 4 years to fuck us in the ass with plastic dildo's made in china. It's much easier to corrupt/buy or compromise the majority of 100 people who have no responsibility to anyone but themselves than it would be to buy off the governor and legislatures of 26 states. repeal the god damn 17th amendment
Edit: To add the 17th was passed with a group of other amendments that established the income tax and IRS and established the Federal Reserve.
