... This terrifies me. There is no countering this tactic. Below is my full thought process for this scenario.

Background: On the 6th, people who gathered at congress stormed the building, shutting down it's business. There were confirmed Antifa and BLM provacateurs in the "invasion crowd". The mainstream media claims it was "Trump supporters attempting insurrection". Others say it is a "false flag" intended to weaken Trump's, and his supporters, standing. Tens of thousands of troops have moved to the Capitol for reasons unstated. Due to the 6th many Democrats are calling for the resignation of fellow senators who supported Trump's desire to have the complaints be heard. They are saying they will propose "new domestic terror" legislation. (I can provide sources for all of these) Due to the 6th, massive tech companies largely used as "the commons" but not legally defined as such, remove the standing president's ability to communicate directly to the public. They then go on to mass remove individuals from their platforms. Tech giants use their ToS and near monopoly to completely deplatform Twitter business competitor, Parler.

Hypothetical: Biden is assassinated during or immediately after inauguration, placing Kamala in charge. Assassin either caught or killed, and later found to have "pro-Trump regalia".

Expected outcomes to hypothetical: Kamala and the new Democrat super majority use the tragedy to blame the entirety of Trump supporters, and lean heavy into them being evil/brainwashed and in need of reeducation. Invokes Insurrection Act to use military force to "detain" Trump supporters. The dozens of thousands of military personnel on scene observed the assassination and take the act at face value. "There is an active insurrection being perpetrated by the losing side". They stop questioning orders, and refuse to listen to any further claims of fraud or Biden having been illegitimate. Tech Giants use Democrat fervor to completely remove conservatives lines of communication based upon "incitement of violence" even defining questioning of the 2020 election to be such. With only Gab having survived the Tech Giant purge it becomes demonized and asserted to be "a platform only insurrectionists use". Social pressure divides platform usage between those that will obey, and those "looking to destroy America". "The right" again claims "false flag", as most know Biden is just a puppet so any actual assassination attempt would instead target Kamala not Biden, and the amount of negative public perception surrounding it such action would not only give Democrats carte blanche to do whatever they want but would also destroy any chances of future public support. (In other words such an attempt would make zero sense for a Trump supporter) And there is zero means of "The right" being able to prove it was a shadow government action and not a lone citizen.

My perspective, assuming hypothetical, and accepting expected outcomes: The US completely fractures. One side asserting things they can't/aren't allowed to prove. The other side asserting their opponents as evil insurrectionists and enemies to democracy. We enter into a hot civil war, and the side that has completely dehumanized their opposition is in control of the big guns.

Also, most social media don't actually delete data, they just stop you from seeing it. So if the Gov asked for it, they would absolutely be able to give it.

This runs into "You get as many districts as EC votes" which makes jerrymandering a MASSIVE problem, especially for states that only have 3 ECVs. How would you even rectify state level districts with federal level districts?

And I'm SURE that if our ECVs went 5-Trump 1-Biden (rough estimate, dividing state level district count in half, they'd be pissed because the left loves the Popular Vote (despite it being a gain for them of 1 for Biden despite it all going Trump in 2020.
