- 40 years ago? I could say, “Fruits getting married and adopting? You must be joking,” and no one would have batted an eye.
- 40 years ago, I could tell a joke about “a Mexican, a black guy and a hillbilly walk into a bar,” and everyone would laugh.
- 40 years ago, I could chant “USA! USA! USA!” at a sporting event and everyone would join in.
- 40 years ago, I could see a cross dresser holding hands with a kid, call the cops and HE’D be arrested and taken away.
- 40 years ago, I could proudly display an American flag without being told, “Do you know what type of racist symbol that is?!”
- 40 years ago, I could shoot and kill three looters trying to burn down my store and steal my possessions and I’d be heralded as a “hero.”
- 40 years ago, I didn’t hear Spanish radio stations, see Spanish billboards, hear Spanish commentary on a store’s intercom or give a fuck about “Cinco de Mayo.”
- 40 years ago, I didn’t have to worry that my children in 3rd grade were being taught, “The Founding Fathers were racist pigs who should have been arrested and hanged.”
- 40 years ago, the only people walking around with blue hair were old ladies leaving the hairdresser.
- 40 years ago, I didn’t have to worry about cops arresting me and confiscating my weapons because someone “was concerned about my anger issues.”
- 40 years ago, I could have a black friend and not worry about “systemic racism” or “how I only have him as a friend because I unconsciously hate all people of color.”
- 40 years ago, communism was still a very bad word and anyone running for office under its principles would have gotten their ass kicked and laughed from the podium.
