I think there's a 0% chance Yale fires him for this.
It's usually overstated by a lot. The church doesn't tell people who to vote for or endorse political candidates. I don't think it's fair or accurate to say that Mormons "basically do whatever their church leaders tell them to do." If you've been in Mormon leadership you'd know how hard it is to get the members to do anything you ask them to do, much less everything you tell them to do.
Romney having been the only Mormon Presidential candidate definitely gives him a ton of name recognition in Utah. There's a lot of Mormons who wish he'd won in 2012 and have a good opinion of him because of that, but who don't follow politics and don't know how shitty Romney has been as a senator (and a person) since then. That and money are the obstacles to removing him in 2024 (there isn't really a process to remove him until his term ends).
It's symbolic. They're just vindictive. Maybe they don't want him running in 2024, but I think it's more that they want to display their power. They're freaking out now because they don't have as much power as they thought they did.
We need political power to do this. It won't happen while the Democrats control both chambers of Congress, the Republicans have no will to fight, and the Supreme Court lacks the moral courage to hear the evidence. We also probably need some cultural institutions to back us because it will become a propaganda war.
It's probably too late for this presidential term. Even if we remove Biden, we are only going to be rewarded with "President Harris" and then "President Pelosi." I think each successor we have to oust will be more difficult. Even if we oust the Democrats we only get weak, ineffectual Republicans to the presidency. I don't think there is a path to overturning the election results and reinstating President Trump.
I think we need to start winning the culture war. Break the Democrats stranglehold on news and entrainment media. Stop letting them cancel us. Stop letting them control the framing of every issue. We need to seize control over some big tech companies or create legitimate competitors that are on our side.
Most importantly we need to find a way to stop voter fraud so we can win elections. This probably starts with the mid terms. I suspect there will be less fraud when the election is perceived as less important- people will be less willing to risk being caught. In 2020 the TDS idiots in all sides thought they were uniting to stop "Cheeto Hitler" and were probably willing to risk a lot more than normal. We need to take back Congress and stonewall Biden throughout the second half of his term. Then we need our side to work together and pass voting law reforms, in a way that can't just be nullified the moment the Democrats regain control.
I sure hope we can kick him to the curb next election. I hate him, everyone I know hates him, but I still worry that the same combination of money, name recognition, Dominion, and low information voters will keep him in office. At least he won't have a Trump endorsement next time.
I just read the decapitation account... Holy shit if you fuck up that badly you should absolutely lose your license to practice medicine. Why would you even want to continue practicing medicine after something as gruesome as that?
Leadership has to be willing to tell these people they're wrong. For whatever reason most aren't willing to do that. I think a lot are worried the SJWs will leave the church, but I definitely think that would be the best thing that could happen.
I'm Mormon and I absolutely hate leftist dumbshit Mormons. I hate them more than anything. Absolutely despise them. Worse than other leftists. I think you're Mormoning wrong if you're a leftist.
There are some really weird names in Utah. It's like Mormon women all want to use unique special snowflake names. I am Mormon but I don't get it.
Literally every candidate in Utah is a Mormon, so it's not the deciding factor here. Name recognition probably was. A lot of Utah normies really wanted Romney to win in 2012 and still liked him.
I've never liked him. I voted against him in the primary but when presented the choice of Romney or a Democrat in the general I plugged my nose and went with Romney. I reasoned that RGB could die and I'd want Trump to choose her replacement... I was right about that, and I kinda got what I wanted there, but it turned out the Supreme Court is useless anyway.
Romney has been such an epic piece of shit that I will vote for anyone who runs against him, even if it sticks Utah with a Democrat senator for six years. Hopefully we can primary him because a lot of Utahns hate him now.
I used to say it was name recognition that got Romney elected, but after this year I'm starting to think it could have been fraud. In the primary, that is. The general was always going to go to the Republican even if it was a corpse with a GOP sticker on it.
It wasn't "singing along to song lyrics" so much as not being afraid to say "nigga" like all the rappers. She was 15 and had just received her learner's permit and made a three second celebratory video where she said "I can drive, nigga!" She sent the video to a friend via Snapchat, and the friend thought it was funny and forwarded it to other friends.
Little psychopath soy boy saw the video and held on to it for three years so he could "teach her a lesson" by releasing it to the internet mob when it would do maximum harm to her personal life. He waited until she was accepted into her dream college and then got the college to cuck out and rescind her admittance.
It's insane that NYT makes the soy boy out to be the hero here. The punishment she suffered was way disproportionate to the "crime" she committed. Sitting on it to maximize harm was crazy and evil. The soy boy is a vindictive little shit.
It's stupid that this word has been imbued with magic powers. She didn't direct it at anyone specifically or in a way that was hurtful or malicious, but because her skin is white the internet lynch mob is ready to tear her to pieces. Yet the word is used casually in popular songs, television, and movies.
IMO either everyone can use it (and it is only racist contextually) or nobody can use it (and black rappers should face the same backlash as anyone else).
Finally news from my state that I can be proud of.
I've been really pissed off with Herbert recently. He's almost out, but the new governor also looks like a spineless cuck. No good option in the general. I voted for another guy in the primary but he didn't win.
Wife and I both voted in UT. Trump, of course. Both of my in laws, my mom, and at least four of my wife's siblings are all voting Trump. My dad was a "never Trumper"; I was gonna try to flip him but he died earlier this year.
Unfortunately my siblings are all braindead libtards who will probably vote Biden (if they bother to vote).
Though I wish I were in a more impactful state, I think UT needs patriots to stay red. The dems here are really psychotic. Say what you will of the LDS church, but as the church loses influence in the state (as it has been for years), the number of braindead psychotic liberals increases dramatically. I don't think it will flip blue this time, but I don't think it's a sure thing at all and it may flip blue in my lifetime.
This one needs to go to court IMO. A tech company shouldn't be able to interfere in a presidential campaign because they decide the campaign is wrong about something. Twitter is not the arbiter of medical facts.
I just looked this up because I'd never heard this before. Not only were the killers regulars at a gay bar, but they knew Matthew and at least one of them had been Matthew's sexual partner before. This was absolutely not a case of some random hate filled rednecks brutally murdering a stranger for being gay.
This was from a story I googled from The Guardian, of all publications.
A huge amount of the sympathy I had for the gay rights movement came from cases like this. I'm not surprised, but I am pissed off to find out how much the media has been lying to me my entire life.
I don't know why this person is raging against adoption, or against Mormons who adopt. It's not socially acceptable in Mormon circles to get knocked up, or to knock your girlfriend up. There isn't a Mormon rule that makes the man pay child support even when the child is adopted. There isn't a single Mormon in the world who would treat out of wedlock pregnancy as a means to funding college or whatever this dude is ranting about. As a Mormon I've heard a lot of complaints about my church, but this is one of the weirdest.
What the fucking fuck is wrong with our supreme court justices? Is there even anyone not compromised that Trump could nominate if he wanted to? Every single decision I hear them make recently is worse than the last. What is the point of pushing for conservative justices if they just behave like idiot liberals anyway?
He's not up for reelection until 2024. Unfortunately.
Holy shit dude. "God Emperor Trump" is a joke title. He's a man. A great man, but still a man; he can make mistakes. One of his mistakes was endorsing Romney. You don't have to pretend that he can do no wrong. You're coming across as a huge asshole here.
I live in Utah. Nearly my entire extended family is Mormon. I have been on both the Mormon and non-Mormon sides while living in Utah. My Mormon family members support Trump, as well as most of my friends at work and at church. The people I know who don't support Trump are mostly Salt Lake City libtards or ex-Mormon Atheist types (there is a large intersection between the two groups).
Before you continue tearing down a group of fellow Christians who you hate, maybe take a moment and look inward and reflect on why you would ever think you need to do that. Mormons are generally God-fearing patriots who prioritize family, country, and religion over everything else. There is no reason this should put them in conflict with anyone on this forum.
Utah Mormon here. I did not vote for Romney in the primary; I think he won because of name recognition more than anything else. I only voted for Romney in the general because of the Trump endorsement and the fact that it was either him or a democrat, and I didn't want to risk a senate seat. Turns out he's no better than a democrat. I really hope he gets a good primary challenger when he's up for reelection. I don't want to be put in that position again.
Me too, friend. I was just down the street from there on Monday, probably a few hours before the protest.. I am beyond pissed off that this shit is coming to my town.
A lot of them call themselves "non binary" so they can be in the "LGBT" category even though they're straight. I know as bunch of people like this, including a married couple with a baby who call themselves "queer" but who are just in a normal heterosexual relationship.
