They can't without a constitutional amendment to begin with. And our founders were very wise in making DC a separate district not within any state and certainly not a state. The seat of feral power should never also have the powers of a state.
I stopped assuming we would ever have an realistic election November third. But the ramifications of statehood for DC are so much worse than the election issue.
One can only hope such an amendment is never ratified, and any extraconstitutional or unconstitutional attempts to do this are vehemently opposed.

My grandmother taught me well. She said if you couldn't think like a man, you shouldn't set foot in the voting booth. If you couldn't effectively debate a man and wanted to vote, you should vote candidates favored by the smartest male you know. If giving up my vote would insure only net tax payers, property owners and constitutionalists could vote I would do it in a heartbeat. I would still qualify, unless they limited it to males in those categories. But even if it was male only the end result would be worth it. Screw ANY voter, female or male, that is an idiot.

I only wear a pretty scarf around my neck, and only cover my mouth if someone confronts me. We recently moved to a state where the governor is saying he will end the already lightly enforced mask mandate most of the local businesses ignore it, only grocery, restaurants and box boxes enforce anyway.
