They're trying the whole 'he's not president anymore so our partisan impartial inquisitor will preside fairly' tact while 'just because he's not president now doesn't mean we can't try him'. Totally fair. Also, if he's not president so kangaroo court is okay, why no criminal charges? Impeachment is a remedy to the chief executive who can't be indicted while in office - he can now be indicted if there were a crime committed, so this is an absolute sham.
So their whole case is 'look how bad it was - don't you want to blame someone?' Incontrovertible. Riveting. I can't shake the desire to reason with these fucking sheep, but they prove themselves beyond reason or dignity, daily. It's sad to see.
