So I got my newest information for my open enrollment at work and comparing last year's plan with this year (same company) and drug copays are down and the number of drugs covered (and procedures) are way up. Lots of other good benefits as well. I can't believe this happened for any reason other than Donald J. Trump signing the EO on drug prices. Why else would insurance companies lower my cost and my employer's cost?

I have not seen anything get better in my health insurance in the years since Obamacare first came in. A couple years it stayed mostly the same but it always covered less and cost more.

At first it was two weeks. I said it was stupid and pointless but went along with it and said in two weeks Nurse Karen will calm down. Then it got further and further along.

Work changed for me. I was still working in the empty office and my wife was working at home taking care of our kid. We were saving on daycare so we could make an extra mortgage payment each month and got closer and closer to being 100% debt free. Then the stimulus happened and we cut off another couple months off of our mortgage.

Easter came and went. Our church service was via Zoom and our pastor, a man whom I respected and still do mostly, was lamenting that people weren't following orders of social distancing and weren't wearing masks.

Then my wife started to crack. She'd see fake news on Facebook that her friends were sharing. It was much easier for her to believe the doomsday stuff than the good.

So yesterday, I took advantage of that cheap as fuck gasoline and filled up the car and drove to see my family in a neighboring state. Technically neither state has a "Stay at home order" but at the state border it was recommending people self quarantine for 14 days. We had a grand time in our meeting of more than 10 people. We played outside, caught up on news, Facetimed with one family member who just had a baby and had a backyard BBQ and in general just had a day to ourselves.

It did an immense world of good for both me and my family. So I advise you that if you can, say fuck you to the quarantine and live your life. If it was really that bad Fredo would be in jail right now.
