"Disarmed" perhaps - regardless if its is a bread knife, baseball bat, cattle prod, or a star picket. We are simply not permitted to protect property or life here in Australia.
We have semi auto pistols and revolvers in our family household, all individually licensed - however we are only permitted to shoot on approved ranges and can not carry. Here it is a privilege to use a firearm not a right. We re-load with dillon presses and enjoy our range time.

Sure do miss the opportunity the own a semi auto rifle but in reality very happy with our bolt actions and collection of lever actions.
