Having lived in Japan and experienced a large part of their culture and language, they mostly think its cool or cute to see a foreigner indulging in their culture.
What I am sure of is that many dislike it when others come from overseas and attempt to change pre-existing cultural norms.

Is what you're looking for. Daisuki (大好き) is better to use than 愛してます (aishitemasu) in this context, since 愛してます is mostly used for family members.
